The largest dogfighting bust in U.S. history just got a little bigger, at least in terms of the number of defendants who have pleaded guilty in connection with the case -- which was the subject of an RFT feature story earlier this month.

The southern Illinois U.S. Attorney's office announced today that five men admitted that they took part in a "Conspiracy to Commit Unlawful Activities of Dog Fighting." They are:
  • Brent Cash, 31, of Eldon, Missouri
  • Darryl Madison, 28, of St. Louis
  • Terrill Clark, 33, of Lithonia, Georgia
  • Thadius Page, 33, of Fairview Heights
  • Michael Williams, 29, of Red Bud, Illinois
Of the 26 people arrested by law enforcement during raids on July 9, 2009, 22 have now pleaded guilty.
