[UPDATE] Rahmel McNeil: St. Louis Homicide No. 91; Teen Shot Dead in Vandeventer Neighborhood

Thursday 7:30 a.m.: Police report they've arrested a 15-year-old male suspect in relation to McNeil's murder. The name of the boy has not been released because of his age.

Seventeen-year-old Rahmel McNeil was shot dead in broad daylight Friday around 1:19 p.m. in the Vandeventer Neighborhood of north St. Louis.

According to accounts, McNeil was part of an argument involving two groups of teenagers and young men in the 4000 block of West Belle Place (above). McNeil was shot in the chest and officially pronounced dead at a local hospital. He was the city's 91st homicide of the year, according to police. By this point last year, St. Louis had recorded around 96 murders.

Though it is unclear what prompted the argument that killed McNeil, St. Louis police tell Daily RFT that recent infighting among a street gang has led to several shootings plaguing the city.
