Larry Maradle Jr.: Man Electrocuted Stealing Copper Part of Crime Ring

Police in Washington Park say the man electrocuted Saturday while trying to cut copper off power lines is part of a crime ring responsible for stealing metal from several sites in metro East St. Louis.

The deceased, Larry Maradle Jr., was originally from Chicago. Police report that the 38-year-old was living in East St. Louis at the time of his death. He and several other men -- ages 32 to 56 -- allegedly stole copper from sites in Belleville, Pontoon Beach and Caseyville.

Washington Park police are holding a 41-year-old man believed to be one of Maradle's accomplices.
