Lure Nightclub Could Stay Open For Months, Thanks to Judge Dierker's Stay Order

This Saturday night was supposed to be Lure nightclub's last hurrah, but a judge ruled today that they can stay open for the time being.
Despite the recent (and controversial) campaign by City Hall, neighboring businesses and private residents to shut down Lure (see our full-length feature "Last Call"), 22nd Circuit Court Judge Robert H. Dierker granted an order around noon allowing the Washington Avenue bar to keep doing business pending his final decision.
That means that Lure could be open for another month or two or three, says the club's attorney, John Bouhasin, depending on when the judge decides the case.
The city's Excise Division moved to revoke the club's liquor license on September 20, saying it had to shut down by October 17. The Trupiano siblings who own and operate Lure appealed, sending the matter to the 22nd Circuit.
The festivities scheduled for tomorrow are still happening, says Tony Trupiano, who helps run the bar. But there will be no official farewells just yet.
