Rally to Restore Sanity in St. Louis is Getting Insanely Big

So the little rally that could totally is. The satellite rally that started as a twinkle in the eye of local Daily Show fans now has around 1,000 people RSVP'd to attend Saturday's rally, and another 1,000ish marked as "possibly" attending. And who even knows about those non-Facebooking heathens out there who might just decide to show up.

For all of you who have already decided to attend, there's a sign-making party tonight at Peridot Boutique at 3159 Cherokee St. from 5 to 7 p.m. All you need to bring is cardboard or posterboard and your creative, rational selves.

For the rest of you who may not be sure about your plans for Halloween Eve (hey, that's a holiday when you're as excited about candy as we are), check out the rally's web site, Facebook page and Twitter. If you're still not convinced that you should head to the Arch grounds Saturday morning for the rally and accompanying March to Keep Fear Alive, click behind the jump for some reasons why we think you should go.

-Vendors galore! Not only will you be able to pick up a glorious hand-knitted something-or-other, or lovingly screenprinted sassy tee, but Handlebar and other local joints will be serving up concessions!

-TV! The Washington, D.C., rally will be streamed live under the Arch on a Jumbotron. It'll be just like watching it at home, except you'll be able to tell people you spent the day not being antisocial.

-Community service! Rally organizers are still in desperate need of volunteers for the event. We're looking at you, parolees.

-Port-a-Potties! Really, who doesn't like a good trip to the plastic can? We're including this as a plus because it'll undoubtedly be a better situation than in D.C., where it's looking like the toilet scene will be dire.

-The costume contest (Directions: Dress as your greatest fear) is an excuse to pull off the ultimate Chuck Norris joke. Don't dress up, and when asked what you are, tell them, "Chuck Norris. My greatest fear is myself."

-We could all use a little extra dose of sanity, especially just days before the election.

See you there, nation!
