Stand by your man.
Missouri's junior senator, Democrat Claire McCaskill, who won her seat in 2006 by beating out Republican incumbent Jim Talent, says that she will "absolutely" run to keep her Senate seat in the 2012 election, reports the St. Louis Beacon

Now that Republicans have won control of the U.S. House of Representatives, McCaskill may be the most influential Missourian in Washington with her seat in the still-Democrat-held Senate.

Republican rumors have begun circulating that McCaskill will abandon ship, but Wednesday she insisted the contrary, calling the GOP murmurs "wishful thinking" on their part.

"Anybody who thinks I'm not running in 2012 doesn't know me very well," she said.

"I love this state and I will fight to represent it. I understand the frustration of Missourians, and I'm going to work as hard as I know how to earn their trust and their confidence so that they will hire me again for another six years."

Talent has said that he is considering a run to reclaim his seat in 2012.
