Stephen Ward: St. Louis Homicide No. 11; Gunned Down By Line Cutter at Liquor Store
| PX Liquor: Scene of the crime. |
The incident left 39-year-old Stephen Ward, of the 4700 block of Palm, dead. Witnesses say it was Palm who upbraided the suspect for jumping in line around 9:50 p.m. Sunday at PX Liquor at 4938 Natural Bridge Road. The suspect -- described only as a black male in his 20s -- left the store and returned with a gun, shooting ward in the torso and then fleeing. Ward was pronounced dead on the scene. An investigation is ongoing.
Question 1: What the fuck is wrong with people?
Question 2: And they say people don't want to live in St. Louis anymore? Huh, wonder why?
Note: This article initially stated that Ward's death was the ninth homicide of the year in St. Louis. That's incorrect. It's at least the 11th after 16-year-old Rayquan Smith was gunned down Saturday night in north St. Louis, and 62-year-old Jose Ruiz-Yerna was found stabbed to death Saturday afternoon at his home in the 3800 block of Indiana.
