Amputations at Anheuser-Busch Can Factory Remind Daily RFT of Halloween Joke

​The Occupational Safety and Health Administration this week slapped Metal Container -- an Arnold-based can maker for Anheuser-Busch InBev -- with a $107,000 in fines for 14 violations of federal safety standards.

The OSHA crackdown follows two amputations at the plant, in which one employee lost fingers in machinery and another lost a foot in a fork-lift mishap. Metal Container has responded by saying safety is its No. 1 concern and that it plans to appeal OSHA's assessment.

We're not sure whom to believe. However, the gory news surrounding cans of Budweiser immediately reminded us of a Halloween joke we hear every year from at least one St. Louis trick-or-treater.
