​Yesterday was the start of the Grapefruit League season for the Cardinals. The club lost 6-3 to the Florida Marlins.

The good news: Redbird newcomer Lance Berkman looked strong, going  2 for 2 with a home run. Pitcher Raul Valdes, starting for Adam Wainwright who had season-ending elbow surgery yesterday, wasn't too hot. He allowed four runs on five hits in just two innings.
