Cherokee Street Shop Cranky Yellow Is Cranky About City Hall

Diana Benanti details the struggles of 23-year-old Cherokee Street entrepreneur David Wolk.
We wanted to direct your attention over to some news on our sister blog, A to Z. In it, the RFT's Diana Benanti reports on the trouble that one local entrepreneur, Cherokee Street thrift shop/art gallery/music venue Cranky Yellow, is having trying to deal with the byzantine bureaucracy at St. Louis City Hall.

As Benanti reports, the shop's 23-year-old proprietor, David Wolk, is young and may have been a bit naive. But he makes a strong case that the city is hostile to young entrepreneurs bringing their energy and ideas to the city's urban core.

We strongly suggest you give Benanti's post a read and give us your take. Is Wolk to blame for his problems? Or does St. Louis make it too hard to figure out how to stay in compliance with the myriad regulations on its books?

You can read the story here; let us know what you think.
