Today's comment of the day comes in response to Aimee Levitt's post about disgraced former pol Jeff Smith writing a book about what he learned in jail. Since Smith wasn't exactly innocent in the scandal that sent him packing, reader "Never Know" had this question:

the good he has done in his life far outweighs a mistake he made and has paid for. he can bring so much good to this city and i hope he continues to fight foe the causes he believes in. i only wish there were more politicians as passionate..
