Illinois No Longer Home to "Retards"

Illinois got with the program...but will you?
Jumping on the national bandwagon, the Illinois House and Senate just approved bills to ban the term "mentally retarded" in state statutes and replace it with "intellectually disabled."

The federal government did the same thing last October when President Obama signed Rosa's Law; now, state governments such as Illinois are following suit, prodded by the "R-Word" campaign, which is devoted to eliminating slang words like "retarded."

And thus the Land of Lincoln seems to have taken the advice of Stephen Colbert, who recently said: "Kids, don't use the R-word. It is totally gay."

Now, if we could do something about that other offensive R word that means much the same thing. Republican.

Way to go Illinois! All Obama supporters are Intellectually Disabled. But I'm not politically correct. To me, they are still woefully misguided retards!

"Intellectually disabled", I love this new term. It applies accurately to such a wide range of people yet doesn't sound a bit hateful.
