Organic Farmers Sue Monsanto Before Monsanto Sues Them

Can someone give an example of a court case where Monsanto sued an innocent farmer for patent infringement on seed that had accidentally blown onto their land? The only two cases I know of are not smoking guns. The Nelsons admitted they accidentally mixed Monsanto seeds with theirs, and Schmeiser's credibility is in question. Are there any stronger examples? Everyone screams about this, but where is the proof?  

I worked in Ag Reg Affairs from 94 to 98 and yeah, I think the farmers are in the right here because Monsanto was making farmers sign pledges that they wouldn't keep *any* of the GMO RR (Roundup Ready) soy seeds to replant their crops the next year.

So, if an innocent farmer who's *not* growing the GMO RR Soy pops up with it, Monsanto had every right to sue *them,* as the movie Food, Inc. pointed out. No matter if it was cross-pollination due to wind or insects - that didn't matter. What mattered was protecting Monsanto's bottom line.

Very glad I no longer work for them! :-p

Monsanto is genetically changing the world, one seed at a time. Corporate greed outweighs the reality of what they are doing to the environment and in turn all living species. I hope the organic farmers and seed companies prevail over this Goliath.

Hurray for small farmers! It's time Monsanto got what it deserves!

Please disregard any credibility you may think Monsanto has. In the 90's as a crop advisor with a great deal of experience in the agriculture sector,I participated in closed meetings with Monsanto rep's when they introduced this new product, called Roundup ready canola.Living in a windy area I immediately shot up red-flags as to 'how' it is their GMO canola is not going to cross pollinate with conventional open pollinated varieties that farmers currently use? They arrogantly dismissed this as a potential problem. That alone folks, for anyone who understands plant pathology and the introduction or manipulation of crops, has just crossed a new threshold geared towards total market dominance - period! Its absurd that these technologies have been able to overwhelm and control markets globally and there seems to be no end in sight. Politicians are paid off, right down to the small independent crop input dealerships.Agriculture researchers would not have a job without 1. Government funding (who are manipulated by large corporations to begin with). 2. Private sector research (which is funded often by the companies that pay for the research and will often extend grant payments long term as long as the research is in the companies favor). 3. Often the scientists who criticize findings are the ones deepest in the cookie jar.

LD50's (lethal dose) of chemistry is tested on rats. Residual parameters are established based on...? That's about as involved as it gets. Long term human exposure unfolds 'after the fact' years after registration of these technologies.There are so many credible papers that range from honey bee toxicities to fertility problems in mammals that are unfolding... after the fact.

Wake up people, these companies are controlling what you eat, and its all overseen by our corrupt Government agencies.
