R.I.P. Steve Mizerany; "Decent Boy" Gave St. Louis Deliciously Awful Commercials

Mizerany and his business partner called themselves the "Decent Boys."
Our condolences to the Mizerany clan on the passing of their family patriarch. Steve Mizerany, 87, passed away Friday of pneumonia.

Those who lived in St. Louis in the 1970s and '80s are no doubt familiar with Mizerany. The whacky commercials he and his business partner Joe Farhatt made for their south-city appliance store, New Deal, were local legend.

Sadly, we couldn't find any of the company's old advertisements online. However, the clip below provides testament to Mizerany's stature as a local pitchman. In this commercial, Mizerany guest stars in an advertisement for another off-beat retailer, Becky "Queen of Carpet and Tile" Rothman.
