St. Louis Police Chief Dan Isom in Running for Chicago's Top Cop

Categories: Community, Crime

Dan Isom confirmed yesterday a report from late last month that he's among the candidates whom Chicago's mayor-elect, Rahm Emanuel, is considering to lead the Windy City's police force.

On Wednesday, Isom acknowledged to the Post-Dispatch that he'd been approached by the mayor-elect's staff about becoming the superintendent of the Chicago police department. Isom says he provided Emanuel's team with information about himself and described the talks as "very preliminary." Several candidates are being considered for the job.

Isom took over the St. Louis force in 2008 after former police chief Joe Mokwa resigned amid scandal.
