Bill To Outlaw Bath Salts and K3 Head to Missouri Governor

Ward Franz has a reason to smile.
Ward Franz got his wish.

The state representative from West Plains saw his bill to outlaw both synthetic cocaine marketed as "bath salts" and new strains of fake marijuana clear the Legislature yesterday and head to the governor's office.

In 2010 Franz sponsored a bill -- signed into law -- outlawing K2 and the other forms of fake marijuana that first appeared in Missouri in 2009. But before the law went into effect last year, the manufacturers of synthetic marijuana changed the ingredients ever so slightly to get around the ban with new products marketed as K3 and other brands.

As Franz told Daily RFT in an interview last month, his new bill should stay ahead of the drug makers, as it bans any variant of synthetic cocaine and marijuana.
