Kansas City Star Disses St. Louis Prior to Weekend Cardinals/Royals Series

That smell? Kansas Shitty just farted in our general direction.

Ouch! The barbs from the Kansas City Star today, they hurt!

The daily paper over in Missouri's second-largest city is out with a list comparing its city to St. Louis. Boil it down and the author of the piece suggests that not only do St. Louis sports fans lack taste, but so do the city's restaurants, beer and culture.

Here's are a few pithy examples from the article:

•Kansas City: Employees at Boulevard Brewery invite you to responsibly enjoy a delicious beer.
•St. Louis: Employees at Enterprise Rent-A-Car harass you about buying redundant insurance.
•Kansas City: Jason Sudeikis is among a group of natives who are emerging as stars in television and the movies.
•St. Louis: Cedric the Entertainer is among a group of natives who were sort of popular, like, 10 years ago.

Apparently the author has never availed himself of the free handouts at end of the Anheuser-Busch brewery tour or heard about Schlafly and the city's other microbreweries. And Cedric? C'mon, everyone knows that these days we're all about claiming John Hamm.

Anyhoo, I used to think that St. Louis had the biggest inferiority complex in the nation. Now I know it's Kansas City. Phew!

Note: I did appreciate the columnist's dig that went: Neither St. Louis nor Kansas City had an NHL playoff team this year, and neither will have Albert Pujols next year.

For the record, Boulevard is far superior to Schlafly, but STL is still much superior to KC.

Compare apples to oranges much? Rather than comparing St. Louis' Schlafly's Tap Room to Boulevard, they chose to compare it to a car rental place instead? Not exactly a fair fight. Both cities suck equally, STL just has a better baseball situation and KC has the better football situation. Flyover country at its finest.

I used to live in KC. Whenever you'd tell someone you were from St. Louis, native Kansas Citians would ALWAYS feel the need to start dissing on St. Louis and going on and on about how KC was better or why STL sucked. This happened constantly... so much so that it was really bizarre. St. Louisans rarely ever do this... KC isn't even on our friggin' radar. Yet Kansas Citians glorify in it. So yeah, the Inferiority Complex Award for the State of Missouri definitely goes to Kansas City.

I lived in STL my whole life. Until last year when I moved to KC for work. KC has the CHIEFS. STL can not compete with the football in KC. That aside, STL is the baseball town. STL is the beer town. STL has many plus sides.
