Ashley Alford: Plaintiff Talks About Her $95-Million Sexual Harassment Victory

Ashley Alford was awarded $95 million last week.
Ashley Alford says her case was never about money. She just wanted to right a wrong and send a message that sexual harassment is not OK.

Last week, a federal jury in East St. Louis awarded Alford $95-million in a lawsuit in which the plaintiff -- now in her mid-20s -- reported being fondled, groped and borderline-raped while working at an Aaron's rent-to-own store in Fairview Heights in the mid-2000s.

Alford tells KTVI: "I just wanted everyone to know what they were doing, how they were trying to cover up,  how they were treating me, how they were trying to make me look like this terrible person I'm not."

Check out the full interview (and see a mugshot of the creep accused of repeatedly assaulting Alford) after the jump:

Richard Moore
Richard Moore, Alford's former boss, now faces criminal charges for an assault in which he allegedly pinned Alford to the floor, masturbated and ejaculated onto her. In another instance he's accused walking up to a seated Alford, unzipping his pants and hitting her in the head with his penis.

And you think you have a bad boss?

Mr Moore was found not guilty in a criminal trial. Seems funny you take out the 7 attorneys from New York, the 7 attorneys from Atlanta and just look at the evidence and he was found not guilty.

Seems worth it......

Props to Ms. Alford for going after Richard Moore, her district manager, and the company itself for the revolting assault that Moore perpetuated.  Stop the cliched victim blaming arguments here -- Richard Moore set this into motion by his repeated unsolicited sexual comments, hitting Alford on the head with his penis while she was sitting down and unaware that he was behind her, and attacking her in a hallway, throwing her to the ground, pulling up her shirt and masturbating and ejaculating on her.  Prior to this, the district manager knew that Alford was being harassed by Moore and failed to implement proper procedure, which then allowed Moore to perpetuate his final attack on her.

Also,  Ms. Alford wasn't asking for $95 million dollars in  her suit, I believe it was far, far less than that.  The jury decided such a high amount of punitive damages against Aaron's because they believed a)  Aaron's failed to properly determine if Richard Moore was safe to supervise female employees,  b) Aaron's district manager, against stated company policy, did nothing to properly investigate Ms. Alford's claims of harassment, and in fact warned Moore to 'watch his back' c) Alford called the Aaron's corporation harassment phone line and left a message, and no one ever returned her call, d) after the second assault against her, Alford was told by another supervisor that "she shouldn't have done that", bv reporting it to the EEO, was told she would never be promoted to a supervisor, and other coworkers ostracized her and created a hostile work environment.

This was a classic sexual harassment case, pure and simple. Ms. Alford can collect no more than $40 million of the settlement, I doubt she will ever see that, but she was completely within her rights to see her assaulter, her district manager, and Aaron's civilly penalized for their behavior.

You have to ask how exactly did it get to him ejaculating on her?  That's not exactly an instant thing...were the cops called right after that?  instead she keeps the tissue and files this suit?  Doesn't add up..

Not guilty does not mean innocent -- or maybe OJ isn't a killer, and maybe Al Capone only was guilty of tax evasion. It seems funny that semen was discovered on a paper towel at the time of Moore's arrest for assaulting Ms. Alford,  and a DNA profile couldn't bedeveloped because no sperm was detected.  Moore had had avasectomy, which would make sperm in his semen non existent or extremely minimal, depending on when he had had the surgery performed.  Unfortunately, more of 'reasonable doubt' is being surrendered to an ignorant CSI mentality that expects there to be DNA present at every crime scene (do some research -- DNA is not always found at rapes or homicides, contrary to laymen opinion).

What's interesting is that Moore claimed that all the allegations, assault or not, were untrue -- so either Moore is a liar and wiped his d*ck on a paper towel after he assaulted Ms. Alford by throwing her to the floor, holding her down and ejaculating upon her,  or  this was a grandly concocted up plan of many months to plant semen on a paper towel (from a man who had a vasectomy, something Alford and other employees weren't likely to know about Moore) and frame Moore in order to win big bucks from a company that had repeated prior claims that Moore was harassing another employee and had not addressed them properly.  Sorry, your tinfoil conspiracy theory doesn't hold water.

really? Jacked up legal system? You know what's really jacked up? you and your peers. It is you and your peers who give out this kind of money. It's called a jury. It's these dumb-ass jurors that are giving out money for stupid shit while giving pennies to real victims.
