St. Louis Thugs to Marines: "We're Looking for a Few Good Men -- To Mug!"

The Marines last night were without their swords, but they did have a pocketknife.
The few. The proud. The wallet-less.

Two military men in St. Louis for "Marine Week" are recovering following an early-morning mugging downtown.

According to police, the Marines -- ages 21 and 22 -- and another man were walking eastbound on Chestnut Street at about 2:34 a.m. Monday when they were confronted by two men who wanted to sell them jewelry.

When the Marines, who were not in uniform, declined to make a purchase, an argument broke out. The Marines told police that one of the suspects then punched the 22-year-old Marine in the face. His fellow Marine then attempted to pull out a pocketknife, according to police, but it was taken from him by one of the suspects who poked the punching victim with the weapon. The suspects then stole one of the Marines' wallets and vanished into the night, leaving the punching and poking victim with a minor injury.

But could it be that the Marines didn't tell the whole story? Or is it that city leaders just can't handle the truth when it comes to a few good men being victims of crime in St. Louis?

This morning, Jeff Rainford, chief of staff for St. Louis Mayor Francis Slay, began attacking the credibility of Marines via his Twitter account and criticizing St. Louis media for passing along information provided by police.

Among the allegations Rainford makes is that the Marines were too inebriated to even know what happened.

A spokeswoman for the Marines does contradict -- somewhat -- the police report. She tells the Post-Dispatch that the Marine who pulled out the pocketknife was the one who was punched in the head.

Mayor Slay - you need to show more of a presence?

what's the city coming to when you can't even stagger drunkenly down the street at 3am without getting into a shady altercation?

Msrdls, Rainford is a clown I will give you that. Yet while you chortle online there are many people who make there homes in this 'EXTREMELY DANGEROUS AND DYING CITY' (add as many exclamation points as you feel is necessary) who work and fight for our neighborhoods while twisted fucks like yourself celebrate any news that you feel justifies your extreme cowardice when it comes to making a difference to save what could be a beautiful city if more of us cared. It's a real shame so many people like you are gutless turds or simply don't give a fuck.  It;s a real tragedy that so many more feel such a humorous need to dance on what they feel is the grave for this city. So to you I say enjoy living in plastic house crackerland, that is until you feel the urgent need to move quickly because a black family moves onto your block. Pussy.

Mr Rainford will do anything in an attempt to preserve the image of an extremely dangerous, dying city. RIP, St Louis!

Could you be any more racist? That's not rhetorical either. I'm curious, since you sounded like you put a lot of effort into crafting a response of pure bigotry, the stereotypes mixed with a racial slur.

Judging from your inability to convey an idea without cursing suggests that you're one of the people contributing to the decline of that disgusting city.  I'm also going to assume that you're black because of the "crackerland" quip.  People like you reinforce the negative black stereotype.  You're absolutely right, I would move if you and your family somehow managed to scrape enough welfare together to move into my neighborhood.  I didn't earn a degree and stay out of jail just to deal with people like you.

You know what they say about assumptions...  I couldn't even tell you the first thing about applying for welfare because I have worked my entire life. I am a married white guy with a child who grew up in south county (crackerland) because, like most of the white people who abandoned this city because they were forced to have to live among blacks, my own parents fled the city in the 70's. If I am willing to call out my own parents on this I have absolutely no problem berating other cowards here. We live in the city and if we stay in this region for life we couldn't imagine living anywhere else. For so many reasons St. Louis could be such a beautiful city if more people simply gave a fuck. I am full of vitriol and curse because I am sick to fucking death of having assholes who have nothing to fucking do with this city trash it on a daily basis anonymously like big fat drippy wet pussies while there are many of us who work our asses off trying to save and maintain it. So if you don't like the way I deliver my points, perhaps because it hits to close to home, you can suck it.

And yes, that typo makes me an illiterate black parolee on welfare. Don't bother.

Yeah that's it. So lets move past my swearing and stay on topic. What solutions do you propose to improve the problems in the city? Don't be shy, since I live in such a scary dangerous dying city I would love to hear your thoughts on what to do, oh worldly one. Just don't tell me to move to the suburbs, that is the pussy way out.

Or perhaps the dislike of the way you deliver your points is in that you don't deliver points. You deliver incoherent ranting and hope that by swearing enough, it'll be overlooked.
