Mark Twain Graces Latest US Postal Service Stamp -- Again

​Personally, the first thing we think of when we consider Mark Twain is the man's generally intense demeanor and hair. The last thing we think of is clunky bureaucracy. That's why we we're still not sure what to think about the announcement that the face (and hair) of the Missouri native -- and kooky literary legend -- will soon become the latest to grace our electric bills. Again.

Twain has already fronted several stamps, as part of the postal service's effort to use celebrities to sell even more of a commodity that we already need. This new stamp, however, comes with more fanfare.

The latest in Twain's legacy will be presented at the author's childhood home in Hannibal tomorrow at 10 a.m., in a ceremony that will include speeches from local officials, curators and a man actually dressed as Samuel Clemens himself.

At that point, the forever stamp's artwork will be unveiled, though considering it centers on a 1907 photograph of Twain and features a steamboat on the Mississippi, chances are that it looks a lot like the widely circulated (but never officially confirmed) image above.

The Mark Twain Boyhood Home and Museum will offer an exhibit of previous stamps featuring the outspoken author for those who are interested in how this one stacks up. (Our guess: It probably does just fine.)
