Man Sues Bar After Getting Nailed in Face by Underage Boozer
An underage guy walks into a bar. He somehow gets his hands on a bottle of vodka and takes a few swills. Eventually, he gets a little tipsy. In an uncontrolled moment of gesticulation, he swings his arm around wildly and knocks another man in the face with the vodka bottle, breaking his nose.
Is this the man who hit a Belleville man in the face with a bottle of vodka?
Who's at fault here? The bottle-wielding boozehound -- or the proprietors of the bar who admitted an underage lightweight?
The latter answer is correct, at least according to the man who got his nose broken in this instance. Earlier this month he filed a lawsuit against the owners of the "Shenanigans" bar in Belleville, Illinois.
John Waller is suing the bar over the 2009 incident for $250,000 in damages. He claims the bar owners failed to provide for his safety after admitting the underage bottle-swinger -- and he's asking for medical expenses, lost wages and court fees
A message left for Waller's lawyer, Paul Waller (who we assume is related to the plaintiff), has not yet been returned. A manager for the bar declined to comment.
By the way, this isn't the first time Shenanigan's has been embroiled in...well, legal shenanigans. Last year we reported that a man filed a lawsuit against the bar when an underage patron whipped out a knife and sliced him in the hand.
These kids today!
