St. Louis Mayor Wants Missouri to Allow Civil Unions

• Who cares what this clown thinks?  Not me.

• Could the statistic about the length of relationships possibly be because of the shame that is put on gays for being who they are? That a lot are shoved back in the closet or commit suicide, thus can't have long relationships? Or that some don't come out for years and years and years, and it takes a couple of tries to get a good partner, whether gay or straight? YOU live in a hick town as a homosexual and see how you feel about coming out to people or dating. YOU live in an area dominated by hypocritical Christians and see if you feel safe to go public. YOU witness your friends or significant other get to the brink of suicide because their God says they're an abomination, but they can't change who their attracted to. See how stable your relationships will be.

• So sorry to hear about your neighbors, but this is excepted as the norm for some in "marriage". I truly don't understand anyone staying in an abusive relationship, regardless of the reasons. Too many excuses! Love is not a justified excuse to stay and be beat. Hang in there, your day is coming. My partner and I thought the same as you. We just had our Civil Union last week here in Illinois. Now, and finally, after 12 years of being in a wonderful relationship, It was truly a wonderful feeling and long overdue.  Hold strong to each other, love conquers all.

• The message is "the kids of today have no probelm with the changing of the tides" it's the people such as yourself that have the problems adapting.   And you have got ot be kidding, right? Take a good look around, this generation is now. You will find exactly what you are speaking of, "so selfish and self centered people" just by stepping out your front door.  It was a good try anyways!   

• Wow, you do see things in black and white don't you. All the things that you are talking about now, is what they were saying when Lincoln wanted the blacks to have rights. How it would ruin America. God would not want the races mixed. How it sets a poor example to other countries.How it would destroy the children of the future generations! Wow now we have a black president! Now all these years later, you had to find someone else to make a example of. To justify why you are more superior. I am thankful GOD MADE ME GAY! I do not judge people for who or what they are. Isn't that the way God wants us to be? Love thy neighbor? I know that you have your own opinion, and I'm not trying to change that. All I'm saying is let me be equal to everyone else, because in the end I have to answer to God for my actions, not you or anyone else. He is my judge and jury not ANYONE else.  

• My partner and I will be celebrating 10 years together in September. For 9 years and 9 months we have wanted to be married, or at least a civil union. We don't want this just to say that we are married, we want this because we would like all the benefits that straight married couples have also! We both work 40+ hour weeks at our jobs, pay taxes, and contribute to our community. So why can't we be considered citizens to have a civil union? Anyone from the opposite sex can get married, for whatever reasons they can think of, but two people that truly love each other can't because we are the same sex? Our neighbors are a straight couple, and the husband beats on his wife quite often, the cops are always being called or she is beating on my door begging for help. She has told me so many times before that they got married for all the wrong reasons. A lot of straight people take for granted the beauty of marriage and what it really means. But people like my partner and I who have been denied this, can only wish for the chance to have what America takes for granted. 

• What message does this send to our children as they grow into young adults.... Its more than two sexes coming together in a relationship... Its more like  freak show and that is the truth. I dont want little Johnny coming home saying mom--- Im in love with Bobby... When our generation is dead and gone- what will the next generation be like....... So selfish and self center people...... It is a Crime shame to think of your hormones when the Future should be what is IMPORTANT!

• If those of the "same sex union" is concern about hospital visitation rights- and all the other things that is in the above Article- then the patience should sign  document stating that they give whomever permission of those rights. It is unethical and wrong to legalize same sex unions. It is NOT right at all!!!! Its not in the bible- its against God- its against the law of Nature of Reproduction.

• Yes, this paper for 1, the letter sent to my best friend(a lesbian) when they were trying to adopt, feel free do do your own research, google is a great tool! Understand I am not anti-gay, with the problems in the world today gay marriage is not even on my radar, I didn't like the arrogance of the initial post, very New York or LA, If I want to get mugged I certainly wouldn't drive to Farmington and stand on a corner for days when I could get results in minutes with a 20 minute drive to the city.

• Actually most of the gay relationships I have seen have lasted a lot longer than most straight. Besides of the fact they should be allowed to do what they want (cause it isnt affecting anyone but them) the fact remains that it would be good for the economy.  Think about it, there will be a lot of money made by people who cater to weddings.  A rise in the job numbers not to mention the tourist trade. Its good for everyone.

• Do you have a source for ANY claim that you just made? And sources from Christianist propaganda websites don't count. I'm talking about a factual, reliable source.

• Maybe they know something you don't! You sound more prejudice than most fo the country people I know. Maybe they know that the average gay relationship last a grand total of 5 years, wow, imagine the court cases clogging the system. The lesbian couple in our subdivision had 2 kids by artificial insemination, then they decided to break up but stay together, now they each have a new partner and these kids have 4 moms, great example for us hoosiers right! Here is another shocker for you, there are more people in the city with no teeth than any rural community I know of. One only has to look at the success rate of inner city black kids bused to county schools to know why we are not happy the city wants to send us another 6000 students this year from city schools that lost their accreditation (you lose it by POOR STUDENT performance by the way) and we get to pay for it! If you would keep your problems to yourself and quit unloading them on us at our expense, we probably wouldn't even give you another thought other than watching the crime stories on the evening news!

• Oh boy, this is sure to get the rural shitbags, legislators and their constituents alike, into a major tizzy. It's not enough that they hate cities and the blacks that live here by themselves, now they will start hating because us godless urban dwellers favor treating gays like human beings. The horror! I have met a lot of gays and a lot of rural shitbags and I can tell you one quick difference between the two groups. The gays tend to have all of their teeth and not smell like a combination of tractor oil and cowshit.
