Unless you were hiding under a rock, you know that Irish uber-band U2 graced us with their presence Sunday night, and it was awesome.

But you might not know, unless you are the indefatigable Deb Peterson at the Post-Dispatch, that he stopped by the Donald Danforth Plant Science Center here in St. Louis before the show to discuss how the center's work with plants can assist with hunger in Africa -- one of The Sunglassed One's many causes.

Peterson reports that Bono chatted with the chairman of the center, Dr. William Danforth, the president, James Carrington, and Martin Fregene, who directs the center's BioCassava Plus center. They discussed shoring up plant health and nutrition to combat hunger.

We promise that we're not just bringing you this news to tell you our one Bono joke, which is snarky even though you have to respect dude's philanthropy. But we do have a Bono joke. So here it is:

Q: What's the difference between God and Bono?

A: God doesn't walk around Dublin thinking that he's Bono.
