The man authorities say set up a bomb that injured a Clayton attorney in 2008 pleaded "not guilty" to the crime today in federal court in St. Louis.

Authorities believe Milton "Skip" Ohlsen left the bomb in a Clayton parking garage next to an Acura TL that he believed was owned by the attorney representing his wife in the couple's divorce.

Instead, the bomb (wrapped in a package) injured retired attorney John Gillis, who happened to drive a similar vehicle as divorce lawyer Rich Eisen. The bomb detonated when Gillis picked up the package, leaving him with severe burns.

Ohlsen, who was previously implicated in a political scandal involving former state senator Jeff Smith, could face life in prison if convicted of the charges related to the bombing.

A follow-up hearing for the bombing case is scheduled for August 8. In January 2010 Ohlsen began serving a sentence in a federal prison in Mississippi for mortgage fraud and weapons charges. He was released on parole on February 18 of this year, according to prison records.
