When's the last time you sent a letter...or mailed anything at all besides a rent check? It's probably been a while; you probably do most of your correspondence online.

The United States Post Office is taking notice. Today, the USPS released a list of 3,653 post offices nationwide to be studied for possible closure, CNN reports. According to the St. Louis Business Journal, nine offices in and around St. Louis are on the list, as well as a dozen in the Metro East area.

City post offices being studied are in Ferguson, Gwen B. Giles, Jefferson Memorial, Jordan W. Chambers, Maplewood, Truxton, Whiteside, Fletcher and Grubville.

"Our customer's habits have made it clear that they no longer require a physical post office to conduct most of their postal business," Postmaster General Patrick Donahoe said in a statement.

USPS will study the offices on the list and determine which ones can be closed with their services offered through "Village Post Offices," little sections in pre-existing businesses that sell stamps and flat-rate mailing.

What do you think? How much do you depend on your local post office? Will you be able to get by with a stamp vending machine?
