TSA's Full-Body Scans Will Now Look Like Gingerbread Men

The new "gingerbread" scanners at airports.
The Transportation Security Administration announced last week that it's rolling out "privacy" enhancement for its controversial full-body scanners.

The software upgrades mean that the scanners will no longer reveal a realistic, semi-nude image of passengers passing though airport security. Instead, the scanners will show a generic outline of the passenger, said to look like a gingerbread man.

"Our top priority is the safety of the traveling public, and TSA constantly strives to explore and implement new technologies that enhance security and strengthen privacy protections for the traveling public," TSA Administrator John Pistole said in a statement.

And while civil libertarians have applauded the move, others still see the scanners as way too invasive.

Airline traveler Ginger Bredman tells Daily RFT this morning that she'll continue to run (as fast as she can) when confronted by the body scanners. "Can't catch me," she says.

Editor's note: Yes, we are on a roll this morning!
