Darius Miles: Ex-NBA Player Arrested for Gun at Lambert Airport

Darius Miles
The legal troubles continue for East St. Louis native Darius Miles.

Miles, 29, was arrested yesterday at Lambert St. Louis International Airport for trying to bring a loaded gun onto a flight. The Post-Dispatch reports that Miles was booked into the St. Louis County jail in Clayton around 8:30 p.m. for unlawful use of a weapon. He was released around 9:15 p.m. without a bond.

Miles was drafted into the NBA straight out of East St. Louis High School as the No. 3 overall pick in 2000. He never did live up to his potential, though, partly due to injury.

Miles last played for the Memphis Grizzlies in 2009 after stints in Portland, Cleveland and Los Angeles (with the Clippers). In 2009 Miles was pulled over in Fairview Heights for a traffic violation and found to have marijuana in his vehicle. And, speaking of vehicles, Miles made a name for himself for some of his incredibly pimped out rides.

He now lives in Swansea, Illinois.

See photos of Darius' pimped-out rides on the next page.

Another epic failure from a failed race. Big surprise.

Why would this East St. Louis native take a loaded gun to the airport and try to get on a flight,  or drive around with marijuana in his car??   Either he has been living in a cave or he is just that stupid.

Its no different than all the idiots who support conceal and carry.

This website needs to be renamed Missouri Stormfront since its littered with nothing but racist garbage.

He is one guy...why insult an entire race who did nothing wrong and aren't responsible for one person's actions?

I swear to god the republicans in this state are getting dumber and dumber by the hour.

Its one thing to conceal and carry legally,  its another thing to try and conceal and carry into a place that has signs posted everywhere "NO FIREARMS".   To not know that you can't carry a loaded gun through an airport with all of the publicity over the past few years,  you have to either be living in a cave or just a total dumbshit or on drugs and can't think in a lucid manner.

Maybe I missed something but what do republicans have to do with this idiot getting arrested??

this is a good reason why everyone should have zero faith in the US government, anybody else who was not stinking rich would be put in  jail and considered a terrorist.   Man, I just wish I was one of those 1%, could get away with anything with that sort of cash.

Another example of the specific and enumerated rights of American citizens being violated by TSA agents who when giving pat downs to people, violate both federal and  state legal codes against sexual assult.

See US Code Tile 18 Section 2244 Abusive sexual contact and the Chapter 565: Offenses Against the Person: Section 565.070  (5) of Missouri state legal code where a person who knowingly causes physical contact with another person knowing the other person will regard the contact as offensive or provocative.

As to the issue of arresting him for possession of a gun on a plane, the issue of gun control in the United States is inexorably linked to the Constitution, current federal legal codes,and self defense. Here is why!

The 2nd Amendment to the Constitution of the United State says;

"A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed."

Advocates of gun control argue that the words "..well regulated Militia" refers to national standing armies. They are mistaken and here is why they are wrong.

Article 1: Section 8: Clauses 11, 12 & 14 of the Constitution say that:

Section 8:  Congress shall have power To:

Clause 12: raise and support armies, but no appropriation of money to that use shall be for a longer term than two years;

Clause 13: provide and maintain a navy

Clause 15: provide for calling forth the militia to execute the laws of the union, suppress insurrections and repel invasions;

Gun control advocates wrongly interpret and lobby aginst that the words " a well regulated militia, means a perpetual standing army.

The Militia referred to in Clauses 14 & 15 under Article 1: Section 8 is defined in current US Code: Title 10: Subtitle A: Part I: Chapter 13 : Section 311. Militia: composition and classes.

(a) The militia of the United States consists of all able-bodied males at least 17 years of age and, except as provided in section 313 of title 32, under 45 years of age who are, or who have made a declaration of intention to become, citizens of the United States and of female citizens of the United States who are members of the National Guard.

(b) The classes of the militia are:

(1) the organized militia, which consists of the National Guard and the Naval Militia; and

(2) the unorganized militia, which consists of the members of the militia who are not members of the National Guard or the Naval Militia.

Since Mr. Miles is an American citizen and a member of the nations unorganized militia, government has no right to arrest or deny him his second amendment right to keep and bear a weapon, regular, simit-automatic or fully automatic.

For those Americans who chose to reside in cities and row homes living life under the illusions that the military and police (which by their conduct of intruding into our civil rights by arresting hundreds of thousands of citizens annually for non-violent crimes to raise funds for the dysfunctional justice system loaded with cops, prosecutors, judges ,and staff, all housed in high temples costing we taxpayers trillions each year), will protect us, and ensure our security, you better read and review these recent Federal District and Supreme Court legal decisions.

•Hartzler v. City of San Jose, 46 Cal. App. 3d 6 (1st Dist. 1975).•Riss v. New York, 240 N.E.2d 860 (N.Y. 1968)•Warren v. District of Columbia, 444 A.2d 1 (D.C. Ct. of Ap., 1981).•DeShaney v. Winnebago County Department of Social Services (109 S.Ct. 998, 1989).•Castle Rock v. Gonzales, 545 US 748 - 2005

Citizens of and in these United States have no constitutional right to police protection.(1)

Miles can save 15% on his pimped-out car insurance by switching to GEICO.

I'll give you 100 to 1 odds he voted for Obama.  Oh, wait, a professional basketball play who went to college doesn't necessarily know how to read, (a voting ballot).

Erm, I've flown with a handgun MANY times. You just have to declare it and lock it unloaded in a checked piece of baggage. Maybe it's that he was in IL; hardly a gun friendly jurisdiction. Or maybe tried taking it on directly; that would be stupid.

How fitting...his team picture is a perfect mug shot.  Just look at this punk trying to mack and look tough in his team photo.  You can bet if he hadn't been a good ball player he would have been in jail over the last decade.

Gee, if I criticize him because he is black I will probably be called a racist by some looney Obama political-correctness nazi.  Let me fire the first shot by saying kiss my a$$.

Julie

Of course you will be criticized for being a racist. His being black has nothing to do with carrying a gun. You must have low intelligence if the only things you can think up are how to insult someone on the basis of race.

You need to grow up.

Right on Red! I stopped paying any attention to basketball WAY back in the early seventies, baseball in the eighties and football in the early nineties because the touchy-feely victumo-crat libitard porch monkey thug crowd was taking it over and charging WAY too much to go to any games ANYWHERE! I pay no attention to any of it and they receive no money from  me what so ever and that includes mindless, ball caps, jerseys and other BS crapola.. just drivel for the mindless masses of lord caesar obamacus supporters (most who can't read or understand economics)

"These people"? Who are "THESE" people to which your refer? If we'd like to go back through the history of stupid acts by people on planes, I'm fairly certain we'd find just as many of THOSE people as THESE people.

Gee, what a surprise. You can take the black out of the ghetto but you can't take the ghetto out of the black.

It's the only thing colored people can do without completely screwing it up. If it involves a ball the coloreds will play it or play with it (including their own balls).

No, they earn it because people watch them play. It's the audience who are the customers. Plenty of people play basketball ball at the park and don't get paid at all.

You're a moron
You're a moron

Whether you like it or not, pro athletes work very hard and also give up a lot to play a "kid's game". They earn that money because thousands of people pay to see them play, and because of that create 10s of thousands of jobs.

Sure, players get more money than they probably should, but I'm tired of people griping about it. They make what the owners decided to pay them.

None None

No, he was paid that much. He didn't earn that much. There is a big difference and pro athletes don't earn anything, they just get paid enormous sums for playing a kids game.

dude

He earned a shade under $62 million total over his playing career. He was a good player(not great but good) until he got injured in 06 and never really has been able to recover his career.
