Peter Kinder Spinning Lies; Claims Democratic Operative Works for RFT

Cuckoo conspiracy: Kinder claims RFT provided this photo to ourselves.
Lt. Governor Peter Kinder appeared on the Dana Loesch show on 97.1 FM this afternoon to address allegations a former stripper made against him last week in the Riverfront Times.

Kinder admitted knowing Tammy Chapman when she worked as a stripper in at the Diamond Cabaret in the mid-1990s. However, he said he never had any contact with her since, until he happened upon her this past winter at Verlin's, a south-city watering hole where waitresses work in the underwear.

Kinder told Loesch that he stopped at the bar to use the restroom and then ordered a glass of wine. It was then, he claims, that Chapman approached him and snapped a photograph of the two on her cellphone.

"That is the extent of the story," said Kinder.

Kinder denied, too, that he ever got rough with Chapman while she performed lap dances for him. "Had I been, it should have been reported to the authorities," he said. The lieutenant governor also cast aside Chapman's claims that he asked her to move into his Brentwood condo when seeing her at Verlin's. "That's just one of the things put out there in this 'hit piece,'" said Kinder.

Kinder then went on to suggest that a friend of Chapman's, John Ross, is behind the scandal. Kinder says Ross is a "contributing writer and editor for the Riverfront Times" who provided the photo of him and Chapman to the paper. In 1998 Ross ran for Congress as a Democrat against Republican incumbent Jim Talent. And, as Kinder told Loesch, Ross "has all kinds of connections with my opponents."

Here at Riverfront Times, we're baffled as to how Kinder came up with this theory. For starters, Ross has never worked or written for our publication. We can also say that Ross is not the person who supplied us with the photo.

Reached by phone today, Ross can't explain Kinder's conspiracy, either. Not only has he never written for the RFT, he says our publication tried to write a "hit piece" about him in 1998. He also says that he never saw the photo of Kinder and Chapman before its publication on the Riverfront Times'' website -- and advised Chapman against talking to the media after the picture went public.

Moreover, Ross says he's always been a fan of Peter Kinder for his support of the Second Amendment. Ross, a concealed-carry instructor, operates a website dedicated to "gun culture."

"One of the biggest efforts of my life was an eleven year effort to get conceal/carry passed in Missouri," says Ross. "I hired the original lobbyist for the bill out of my own pocket. For ten years, Peter Kinder supported us in our efforts. And for ten years, [then-Attorney General] Jay Nixon tried to block us. He was an opponent. I tell everyone who comes to my shooting school that. I tell them, if it comes down to voting for Kinder or voting for Nixon, I tell them to remember who's in favor of their right to self-defense."

Kinder conducted another interview this afternoon with KMOX's Mark Reardon in which, we're told, he spun the same story about Ross' alleged affiliation with Riverfront Times.

Kinder ended his interview with Loesch by pointing to the supposedly true story, this one reported by Andrew Breitbart's "Big Government." A scan of that site shows a reporter named Dan Riehl spinning the same falsehoods as Kinder.

More media analysis of Kinder's denial here.

Kinder is a creep. I have seen him many times at local taverns and I have seen him around Tammy, she is a honest woman and would not make this shit up. Kinder face the facts!!!!

The concerning part is his explanation. He went 10 times and got a religious awakening to stop going? What Did this awakening include? Most dudes over 40 have been to a strip club at least once. What other dudes do you see there? Three types drunk buds, sober pervs, drunk pervs. The drunk buds usually are with some buds and are coming from a game, bachelor party, casino, etc or are business travelers, they don't care who the are looking at as long as they can see something. The sober pervs usually are by themselves, and come back again and again to see a particular person. Drunk pervs come in when they are drunk to see a particular person. I wonder which one Mr Kinder considers himself?Mr Kinder describes as 1st with buds, then 10 times after, alone? If ur a dude 40+ think about that. U want him leading you? Visualize him there. What did the religious LIGHT enlighten him to? Not to go to strip club with drunk buds? Not lust after a stripper? Not get drunk and lust after a stripper?

Why this matters is the pattern it shows. He is single he can lust after who he wants as long as it doesnt make the lustee uncomfortable. If he is lusting, he has been at it with this woman for along time, even by his words, with no luck. Say she is some political hack and tricked him to the bar. The fact he fell for the ruse, hints at a disturbing obsession, whats the religious conversion? He ordered alchohol and saw the same stripper he saw preconversion. Basically he ordered a glass of wine in a "house of sin" he/God swore off 15 years ago. Why that matters is he is spending our money (check your paycheck). there are alot of good conservaties why should we grant him power?. He has been spending our tax dollars for a long time. A long time. In 1776 the Statue of King George was torn down in New York City. There's no Kings in America. Seems its time we remind Mr. kinder. This isnt a stripper~politician story. This is furthur indication an individual is abusing OUR power story. I'm a conservitive ~ not a religious conservitive. So I'm not concerned he was in a strip joint, or drinks alcohol. This guy has power because we have given it to him. He is flaunting that power thrue lies right in front of or face. He is lost, we need to send him back home, and bring fresh blood into Missouri governemt. We are a better state than this.

He stopped to use the bathroom . . . and have a glass of wine . . . at Verlin's?

In the world of Dana Loesch and those who think like her, unfounded conspiracies are as common as rising gas prices.  You don't need facts or evidence, just fear and paranoia.  See the blog about the Amygdala Strain.  I feel it explains the behaviors of Loesch and others like her VERY well.

Although I think it's very hypocritical for a tea party conservative to be a manwhore, or former manwhore, as the case may be, I too considered this a non-story until Kinder started lying and then lying some more.  The whole conspiracy thing is just too, too much.  Kinder is like that drunk uncle that gets just a little bit TOO flirty with you at family functions and gives you the creeps.  Things that make you go "ew".

Whats the big deal here? Is this woman a bad person to be associated with? If these places are so bad where he went then why are they operating and why isn't the Governor trying to shut them down ? Is this worse or less any different than Jay Nixon parading around town with 2 time murderer & drug trafficker Don King by his side..Why is this being brought up now about Kinder..It's obvious Jay Nixon is trying to smear a potential contender

Chad Garrison, thank you for accurately quoting me.

I was out of the house when your reporter called.  Now that I'm home, I've finally dug up the cover story RFT did on me over a decade ago.  It's issue number 1038, August 26-September 1, 1998.  The article is called "Gunning For Congress" by C.D. Stelzer, and carries the tagline "John Ross is a gun dealer, novelist, and stockbroker.  He's also the Democratic nominee for Jim Talent's Congressional seat. And Ross' party is running for cover."  The photo of my face on the cover is approximately double life size, a shot that is NEVER used to portray someone favorably.

I love the idea that I have "all kinds of connections" within the Democratic Party, but the fact is in 1998 the Missouri Democratic Party HATED me, The Post-Dispatch endorsed Republican Jim Talent(!) over me, and since then my only political involvement has been limited to writing occasional articles about political issues on my website, so I doubt the Dems now even know I'm alive.  A quick perusal of some of those articles will give one a clear picture of my feelings about the Democratic Party as it currently exists on the national level.  Cliff's Notes version: They're bad for our country.

Mr. Kinder needs to fire whatever idiot that has been giving him such easily disprovable bad information.  Andrew Breitbart needs to dump Dan Riehl, too.  If Riehl went to Journalism School, whoever paid for it should demand their money back.

Kinder is an fucking idiot. I could care less if he buggers his gay uncle's collie every Thursday and Saturday if he was an effective 'leader' and less of an asshole in the bargain. As it is though he is a worthless jerkoff who I want nowhere near a leadership role. That being said the funniest part of this story is when he tried to blame it on Gov Nixon and 'democratic operatives'. Trust me, that hayseed fuckstick Nixon would have never been behind something this clever. Judging by his campaign commercials and moves as Governor of Missurah, all that hillbilly assfuckhead knows is drivin' and fixin' tractors while talking a bunch of pigshit or whatever the fuck they do in Desoto MO besides that. About the only other thing Nixon is smart enough to do is sit back and envy his arch enemy Kinder for his good luck scoring with Penthouse Pet circa 1986 while looking redder than WC Fields on a coke binge in dive bar on the south side.

And when are you going to get to the real story, that Peter Kinder is gay.  Why do you keep "beating around the bush?

Wait - what about the other story where he admitted he visited the strip club 10 times and then claims he got religion and realized going to strip clubs might not be what Jesus would do?

The big deal is the hypocracy of this "small government" "family values" tea party conservative douche bag who LOVES to tell people how to be "moral" in their personal lives yet holds himself to no such standards. Yeah wants small governement alright. Small enough to fit in your bed, but not his.

John Ross, could you give us the truth about all this? What really happened in your opinion? I don't care if Kinder likes girls too much and lacks self-control, but if he is now throwing someone under the bus to save his own career, that is not acceptable.

Was it okay that Clinton got his "knob waxed"? I seem to recall two year's worth of media coverage on that culminating with an impeachment trial.

It's not so much that he's getting a lap dance.. it's that he's using our tax money (inviting the lady to live in a house that is paid by you and me) which is WRONG... if you don't think it's wrong... well, that's your problem... But, hey... every dollar counts... right kinder *wink wink*

I prefer to deal in facts and not opinion or speculation.  Here are some facts and my comments about them:

1.  Whatever transpired between Tammy Chapman and Peter Kinder that bothered Tammy happened TEN YEARS before I met Tammy.  I have zero interest in it, whatever it was.

2.  If you read my articles I've posted on my website, you'll see my written observations that some people seem to get some sort of benefit out of talking about negative events in their past, rather than relive the good memories.  Some facts regarding this:  Three weeks ago, my sister (now 65 years old) brought up something I said in 1988 that hurt her feelings.  Twenty-three years later, she was still visibly upset.  My mother is now 96 and her mind is not what it was a couple of years ago, but at age 93 she was still talking about things I had said as a teenager in the 1970s that bothered her and things her brother had said or done that upset her in the 1920s.  That brother died 35 years ago.  A good friend's mother, now deceased, complained regularly about how her father had refused to buy her the $200 prom dress she wanted and was only willing to get her one that cost $60.  The prom was in 1932, so do the math about how much money $60 was back then.

My observations of Tammy over the 5 1/2 years that I've known her are that she is generally NOT one to engage in this type of behavior.  However, when a reporter shows up at one's workplace and shoves out a microphone and demands to hear "your side of the story," very few people respond with "I have nothing to say" and stick to it, especially if that situation with a reporter has never happened to them before.

3. The Kinder campaign appears to be taking the rantings of Dan Riehl on Breitbart's Big Government.com at face value, and this is their biggest mistake.  Dan Riehl writes for Breitbart and has never called or emailed me.  I don't know who he is or what his agenda is. He was apparently the first to make the easily disproved claim that I write for and edit the RFT and am a "Democratic Operative."

Riehl blames me for some alleged failed 2008 attempt to smear Mr. Kinder with a photo of Tammy and the caption "Who is this woman?"  (Neither Tammy nor I had ever heard of this alleged incident until now.)  Riehl says the photo is on my website.  I never saw the printed copies with the caption he's talking about, but if it was the photo I took of Tammy in white pants and bare midriff, smiling outside in Soulard on her birthday, yes it's on my website, and it's been there since 2007.  Anyone in the entire world with an internet connection can right-click on ANY Internet photo and save it to their computer, then edit it, add captions, use Photoshop, print a million copies, etc. and distribute it. Is Riehl unaware of this basic fact of computer use?

Riehl makes a big deal of me replacing Tammy's iphone.  Here is what happened: A couple weeks ago, Tammy told me her phone had quit.  I took it to ATT and they wanted to sell me a new iphone.  So I went to Wireless Toyz in Webster to see if they could fix it.  They had previously replaced both front and back glass that was cracked from the phone being dropped, so I had reason to believe they were competent.  After much effort, they said it was permanently broken and they couldn't do anything to fix it or retrieve any of the data on it, as the iphone uses internal memory and not a micro SD card like my Nokia.  So I bought her a new iphone.

Why does this seem sinister to Riehl?  EVERYONE AGREES that Tammy took the photo of herself and Mr. Kinder at Verlin's with her iphone.  What does Riehl hope someone could find on her phone other than that?  Nuclear secrets? Pictures of Jimmy Hoffa's burial site?  The broken phone in question is sitting right in front of me.  Tammy would LOVE for some data recovery firm to retrieve the 2000+ photos she lost.  I'd offer to send it to Riehl, but there are undoubtedly personal photos of Tammy's lesbian friends stored in the phone.  Those friends wouldn't want someone like Dan Riehl to have the photos, given his track record with me.

Dan Riehl posts a picture of me and Tammy he found that he conveniently fails to mention is a JOKE.  I posted this joke picture to a shooting website with a HUGE RED DISCLAIMER in May.  You can see it here:  http://castboolits.gunloads.co...

Dan Riehl also found a video Tammy took with her iphone and uploaded some time ago, and sees something sinister there, too.  It's me singing a funny song I wrote about her, teasing her about her being gay.  It's a lot better with musical accompaniment, but it's okay a capella.  My 18 year old daughter thinks it's hilarious.  I wrote it after Tammy got a cancer scare that turned out to be benign. Maybe I'll perform it on karaoke night with music and post it to YouTube.

AN UNFAIR RAP FOR KINDER

All of these articles on this issue, in this publication and others, keep talking about Verlin's being famous for its "pantsless parties," with the implication that Mr. Kinder went there because of that.  That CANNOT be true for the following easily-verified reason:

The owner of Verlin's asked me if I would take photos outside his bar to be used in an ad he intended to run in the RFT.  I agreed, but when I showed up, the RFT had sent their own photographer, so I stayed in the background.  After the shoot, the girls started talking about what words the ad copy should use, and someone suggested mentioning the girls wore booty shorts, miniskirts, bikinis, and the like.  The term "pantsless parties" was coined.  THIS WAS IN MID-APRIL.  The ad came out in the RFT the next week, I think, or a bit later.  The RFT can look the date up. Mr. Kinder had made his ONLY visit to Verlin's at least A MONTH EARLIER.

FINAL POINT

Anyone who has read any of my writings over the last 20 years, seen C-SPAN video of the speech I gave in front of 20,000 people in Washington D.C. in 1994, listened to local speeches I have made on dozens of occasions, read my novel Unintended Consequences, or followed my involvement in Missouri's ultimately successful Concealed Carry effort from 1992-2003 knows me pretty well.  They know I view firearms rights as the absolute most important right in the larger issue of Freedom.  They know I deplore the statist types that have ever-increasingly infested the Democratic Party since FDR (I actively tried to do something about that in 1998, remember?) They know I speak at Tea Party rallies and have praised Sarah Palin and other Tea Party favorites for their pro-freedom, pro-free market beliefs.

The idea that I am a "Democratic Operative" out to smear Peter Kinder is not just wrong, it's laughable, preposterous, and absurd in the extreme.

EDIT my above post:

I checked my records and the RFT photographer came to Verlin's on Sunday, MAY 22, 2011 and shot photos for the ad.  I know this as I found a digital photo I took from across the street as the girls were getting ready to pose in front of the Corvette.  So the ad came out with the "Famous for Pantsless Parties" tag line sometime after May 22.  This was probably at least 2 months AFTER Kinder visited the bar.
