Hilarious Video of Speeder Trying to Bust Cop for Drinking & Driving

OfficerDrinking1.JPG
The guy who took this photo of a drinking St. Louis County police officer had just been pulled over by him.
For 31-year-old Lucas Lamb of Greenfield, Illinois, the wild evening of August 14 was filled with a speeding ticket, a twist of fate, and the sweet taste of revenge! (Or so he thought.)

At 6:30 pm, Lamb and a buddy were hurtling down I-270 on their way to an MMA fight when they got pulled over. Their mistake: speeding at 85 mph past a St. Louis County Police patrol car, which was going almost as fast.

Idling on the highway shoulder, Lamb noticed two things: (1) the officer had a female seated next to him in the patrol car, and (2) the officer wore a t-shirt, not a uniform.

Lamb says that when the officer approached, he threw up his hands and complained, "What, are you trying to make me look bad on my day off?" The cop wrote Lamb a citation.

Nothing wrong with that picture so far, says Officer Rick Eckhard, spokesman for the police department. Speaking in generalities, Eckhard says, it's common for county cops to drive their cruisers off-duty with family members inside. He adds that a car going 85 mph would be a "very noticeable" violation demanding enforcement.

A funny thing happened, though, after the vehicles parted ways.

When Lamb and his buddy arrived to the fight, held at The Stratford Bar & Grill in Fenton, they noticed the same squad car in the parking lot. They then spotted the officer and his female companion walking into the fight, so they waved and jeered. The couple acknowledged them, Lamb says.

Once inside the event, Lamb spied the officer buying a bucket of beer. So Lamb ran outside to his truck, changed his shirt, donned a baseball cap, and re-entered the event. He found the officer and videotaped him on the sly, as shown below (the officer is the guy in the green t-shirt):

How much beer did the officer put away? Lamb isn't sure, because he wasn't watching (or taping) the whole time, but maintains the cop was definitely there for three and a half hours.

Here's another clip (look to the right, past the guy in the white shirt):

But HERE's the climax!!! Lamb confronted the cop in the parking lot, and the cop tried to speed away:

The next morning, Lamb says he filed a complaint using the county police's website. The county police department's Internal Affairs Division called him in for a meeting.

But Lamb claims that Lieutenant Matthew O'Neill grew "agitated" upon learning that Lamb had been ticketed by the same officer a few hours earlier on the night in question.

"He was thinking I had an agenda," Lamb says, adding: "I almost felt like I was the criminal by the time the meeting was over."

Lamb concedes, however, that he does plan to challenge the ticket on the grounds that the officer could've been drinking before ever pulling him over.

Lamb has submitted a signed affidavit and the video evidence to the department for review. He's not accusing the officer of driving drunk. But he does believe the officer must've violated some kind of department policy.

Officer Eckhard, the police spokesman, says the department doesn't comment on pending internal affairs investigations. But if Lamb doesn't like the outcome, he adds, he has the option of appealing.

Lamb concludes: "If this [officer] was trying to impress his girlfriend, he would've looked better by just letting us go down the road....He could've been a good guy and I probably would've bought the fucker a beer."

"""He was thinking I had an agenda," Lamb says,Lamb has submitted a signed affidavit and the video evidence to the department for review. He's not accusing the officer of driving drunk. But he does believe the officer must've violated some kind of department policy. """

Anyone watching the video knows that is crap.  Lamb is trying to 'get him' as he clearly screamed in the video.  It is disingenuous to say otherwise.

That being said, the officer was going 85 when he wasn't on duty which is against the law and there is a possible 'issue' with the drinking.

The answer is to raise the speed limit and raise the alcohol limit back up to 1.1

Nobody wins in this encounter.  The driver has to deal with BS and the officer is also dealing with BS all because the state wants to apply draconian standards to driving.

Who paid for the fuel for the cop to drive the vehicle to the MMA event?  The Dumbasses that the cop "serves and protects".

Lakawak,Why do you have continuous references to lack of intelligence and really weird references to disappointing your mother and committing suicide in a forum about a response to a traffic ticket ? Your comments are meant to be demeaning but they come across as juvenile and insecure.

Funny how some people are trying to turn this story away from the fact that the guy got caught speeding into a bad cop story.

The cop is driving around in a taxpayer funded vehicle after drinking beer for 3 hours.  Screw him.  He's a disgrace to the uniform and should be fired.

First of all, you are all taking LUKE LAMB's word that the officer was only going a couple MPH slower than he was... He passed a MARKED POLICE CAR!  What a dummy!  Secondly Lamb did not show the Police Officer  break any laws in which we as civilians are held to.  Police Officer X broke department policy by consuming alcohol and driving his patrol vehicle.  So he will probably be reprimanded, lose his car, might lose his special position (if you notice that was not a normal County Patrol Vehicle), nad may even get suspended.  As with any other job.   And Lastly, I know FOR A FACT that St. Louis County Police Officer who participate in the Resident Officer Program (get to have take home cars) are encouraged to drive them for their day to day activities within the borders of St. Louis County.  It adds Police pressence to the area.  The pressence of a Police Vehicle is a crime deterrent alone.  Go ahead Police Officer Park up front where everyone can see your car... better yet park next to me, I would rather not have my windows broken or my catalytic converter.

Lesson of the story... Lamb got away with speeding, this time and Officer X is going to have to give the department 40 hours of his time for free (way more than Lamb's ticket cost I am sure)... That will be a light paycheck I imagine.

Watch them sway to the left then the right... Hey im going to take your cute ass to a fight but on our way there we need to pull a dude over. Well then you realize you pulled over the wrong LUKE LAMB!!! Better not be taking your roadhouse transvestite look alike down the the MMA fight because the Lambster is on his way with lasers on lock and he is ready to roll out!!! Next thing you know your downing half a bucket with your firearm in your car... and then you get that gum in your mouth and the smell of sweat and musk is in the air... you both get in the car and your ready for some BAD CO, IF YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN?!!! .... and then from out of nowhere, like the snow monster in empire strikes back... LUKE LAMB is up in your grill like an albino wookie, your earing isnt enough to bling him away... so you just gun it!!! I would.. you know as soon as you get out of there your loose from the brews and the Trany is ready for your BAD CO!!!  Classic tale... CLASSIC...

I would say dating an older women is great not only because she is your lover but she would also have that motherly instinct with you as well and be able to comfort you like a younger women may not be able to.Plus there would be no games like their could be with younger women. Also their sexual experience is invaluable in bed trust me and they tend to be secure and set in their lives.Just my opinion but an older women is great and that's nothing against younger women. I meet mature women on this website: --kisscougar.com-----

One question... I just noted the problematic officer's name is not in the article.  Why is that?  What is his name?

I was at those fights.  I specifically remember commenting to my girlfriend on how that officer parked right next to the building in an unlined spot, pulling a garbage can in front of the car before he and his date took the short walk to the door.  This was right before the fight started.  The nearest legal parking was 200 yards from the entrance by that time, where us lowly civilians had to park.  I bet his date was impressed.

Good on you Mr Lamb.  The terror in that gum-chewing bulls face (gotta get the booze smell off the breath before DUIing in a police vehicle!) as he cowers from you is priceless..

And I for one am very pro-law-enforcement.  This officer seems to be one of those who believes laws pertain only to civilians.  Sadly, officers such as this make all law-enforcement look bad.

lakawak

I was at that fight too!  I distinctly remember you taking a goat out of a neaby zoo and having sex with it in the parking lot.  then you found a stray dog and gave it head until it came in your mouth.

Now...I am only using the logic that you have already established as valid logic.  And that is that since I claimed something on an internet message board, it is an undeniable fact.  Hence, it is a FACT that you fuck goats and blow dogs.

That makes you  afucking pervert.

The guy was speeding and its the cops job to catch people. Regardless of what the cop was doing wrong, it doesnt nullify the fact that this guy was driving 85 mph in what I assume is a 55 mph zone, and its also not this guy's job to catch cops. Should the cop be investigated? Sure! if he's driving a police car impaired he should lose his job period. But the guy ought to lose his license too. Anyone who drives 85 in a 55 shouldnt be allowed on the road - that 30 mph over the limit!

UR A MORON!
UR A MORON!

First of all... you're ignorance floors me! Second of all, I-270 is 60 MPH speed limit.  That's 25 MPH over the limit.  Is that excessive? Maybe... but not at all uncommon on the interstate... Theres times when you have to drive 80 just to keep up with the flow of traffic!  And you are arguing Mr. Lamb should lose his license?? I can't Speak for Missouri, but in Illinois you have to be driving 40 MPH over the speed limit before it is even considered Reckless Driving.  Not only that... the cop was driving just as fast... Oh but I guess since he was in his cop car that is ok right?  You sir are the one who should lose his license... because someone as dumb as you has no business being behind the wheel of a car!

lakawak
lakawak

Wow..you are a cop...(Or so you say...I lvoe it when chidlren like you make it SO easy to call them liars)...and you claim he was speeding for catching the guy?  Becusae hte cop was NOT speeding before he stopped the guy.

So you apparently break the law every time you (as a cop, of course) go after a guy.

Lamb For Sheriff

Wow... apparently you didn't even read the story or watch the news.  He passed the squad car which was going only a couple MPH slower than he was.  Thus why the cop said "What are you trying to make me look bad on my day off?"  And you say I'm proably a kid saying I'm a cop... Well what the hell are you doing up at 4 in the morning trying to bash everyone on here?  Sounds to me like you are the fucking child!

Who's job is it to catch the cops? The Cop Cops? Who will catch them?? Who will do all the Cop catching!?!?!?By now I'm sure you've realized you are a moron. There is no need to thank me, the only thing you need to do, is sit down in a quiet, peaceful place and reflect on your life. Think about how it has been wasted.

The man received his ticket, as the law necessitates. Now, the cop should receive a disciplinary action on his part. No need to take away a person's license for speeding.

So spokesperson Rick Eckhard doesn't think there's anything wrong with an off-duty officer driving a "company car" while not on duty OR transporting a family member in a "company car" that tax payers pay for?

Interesting. I can't drive my company vehicle while not on the job. And I certainly can't give my family members rides in it. And tax payers don't pay for it.

Esquire
Esquire

Actually most police contracts include a clause allowing officers unlimited use of their cruisers while off duty.  For what the officers make in salary this might be considered a nice additional perk.  In most cases it would be considered of value for an officer to have quick access to his/her vehicle and equipment when technically off duty.

That said, when an officer brutally abuses that privilege as this sorry excuse has it brings dishonor upon his entire department.  If anyone is miffed at him it should be his peers in law enforcement.

UR A MORON!
UR A MORON!

Not only that... If the officer was in his squad car and making traffic stops... One would only assume he was carrying a gun (If he wasn't... He is even dumber than I thought, making a traffic stop with no protection).  So that means he was also carrying his duty weapon while drinking... Another BIG violation in ALL police departments!

There is no justification for officers driving "our" cars if they are not on duty. Plain and simple. I consider this use of taxpayer dollars as larceny. My father was the chief of a suburban fire department he would strictly use his personal vehicle for personal matters.

haha. the pathetic attempts at defending this dumbass cop and his actions are ridiculous. wait wait....i've thought about it and you know what? maybe you guys are right.......i mean there is nothing unprofessional or irresponsible about rolling out in your squad car off duty with your newest piece of ass, writing a ticket, throwing back some brews at an MMA fight, and hitting the roads again. pretty clever actually, i mean why take your own vehicle if youre going out drinking. i'm glad pieces of shit like this are the ones out there hypocritcally writing tickets. just a classic abuse of power at its finest. i applaude mr. lamb. the public has a right to know how it's tax dollars are being spent, or in this case, wasted.

I live in St. Louis County and there seems to be a lot of police officers in my neighborhood with squad cars parked in their driveways. I like it! I think it makes criminals think twice before coming to my hood. However, this cop should know better than to drink off duty in a squad car. I would agree that he was probably showing off and he could use some maturing. Young cops are hard to deal with sometimes and this might be an experience that puts his pride in check. Taking the car away would be a suitable punishment.
