Back to School Means Drug Tests for Linn Students

• Just alot of people who like to be told what you can and can't do on your time,in the privacy of your home,24/7.you give them an inch and next they will dictate how to live your life,people are so stupid and nieve. The same ones who voted for that idiot we have in office who is distoying our country,wake up,if that's possible fools.

• Move to soviet union,they probably got alot of laws you'd like

• Not a single dissenting voice will be one from a drug free person. It is so sad that the students feel this is a negative. If you remove drugs and the problems and drama they bring from a campus you are surely bringing up the quality of the average graduate and the education they recieve. I had to pass a drug test and a Federal background back about 5 years ago when I was just tyring to get a job as a car salesman. I think its perfectly acceptable to require all campuses that recieve federal monies to adopt this policy. I say this because the view of the federal govt is still one of the listed drugs being against the law without prescription. You cannot possibly defend the logic of letting people violating federal laws from recieving federal monies.. its like drug testing for welfare or assistance.. its the right thing to do. 

• So the school doesn't want people attending who use illegal drugs, or people who use poor judgement and take the risk of getting arrested buying illegal drugs so they can get high for whatever reason,  or maybe the school doesn't want to waste time having to babysit the guy slumped over in his desk who popped the pill form of heroine before he came to class.  Good for the school.   I seriously doubt they care what people do once they graduate.   If I am paying to learn,  its against my civil liberties to be forced to share a classroom with an illegal drug user.

• Get an education on the "natural", HOW IS THIS POSSIBLE!!! I love it, I wish every college and high school would do it! At the very least kids on scholarships, grants/aid, student loans...I take them and so should anyone receiving help from my tax dollars including students and especially welfare recipients. I know, it's against our rights, it invades our privacy....so don't ask for assistance, look at the state of this country now that we are politically correct, IT'S EMBARRASSING!!!! I also agree with the guy who said alcohol and cigarettes, ban them and cut the cost of my healthcare.

• Please correct me if I'm wrong, but isnt this an infringement on privacy? I feel the explanation of "we want students to be sober ENOUGH" isnt enough to warrant mandatory drug tests for the entire student body. Under other circumstances such as court mandated drug tests, I am under the impression there has to be probable cause that the tested individual would be at risk to someone else, or at risk of reoffending. This really doesnt feel appropriate for a college campus, technical or not.

• I'll also bet that the school is making money on this.  Why not also impose a fee for testing for STDs.  Similar arguments can be made about why the students shouldn't be getting sick.  Plus, you could get insurance companies involved if you imposed such requirements, which means the fees that you pass on to students would generate a MUCH higher profit margin

• Sounds like a great plan, if the students can choose whether to spend their money on it.

• I don't have an objection to a mandatory drug test unless you're a user.

• My guess would be that this is more for the university to cover their ass with insurance. It happens with most employers something happens a drug test is given and if you fail the test the insurance doesn't cover you.  I don't see the problem with it.

• One would assume that students accepted to the school would be capable enough to make their own, responsible decisions.  Is Linn State going to follow their Alumni around as well and make sure that no one is living in Colorado, California, or one of the many states that have decriminalized marijuana?  This is completely ridiculous.
