Threat allegedly promised to blow up dormitories and kill 4,000 people.
A federal grand jury indicted a Chicago man last week for threatening to blow up buildings at Southern Illinois University at Carbondale last month.

According to the indictment, Maurice Wiggins, 23, made the threat August 29 when he accessed the SIUC campus crime watch webpage from his smart phone and stated that he planned to kill 4,000 students and staff by bombing three dormitories and a student center between September and November 2011.

Today federal prosecutors requested that Wiggins be detained until trial because he poses a danger to the community. If convicted, Wiggins could spend ten years in prison and be fined $250,000.
