Your Weekly St. Louis Bestseller List

Categories: Books

Here's your weekly St. Louis bestseller list for the week ending September 11, as compiled by the St. Louis Independent Booksellers Alliance and based on sales at Left Bank Books, Main Street Books, Pudd'nhead Books, Subterranean Books and Sue's News.

It's so good to see people planning ahead! Our number-one adult bestseller this week is A Time to Plant: Southern-Style Garden Living by the Southern lifestyle and gardening guru James T. Farmer III. It's fall, finally, but apparently it's never to early to start thinking about next summer's garden. Also making its debut on the bestseller list is The Leftovers, Tom Perrotta's imagining of the aftermath of a Rapture-like event. It's important to be prepared for that sort of thing.

You may notice a familiar name on the kids' bestseller list: Yes, Colin Meloy, author of the Portland-set urban fantasy Wildwood, is the same Colin Meloy who is the lead singer of the Decemberists. He is currently outselling Green Eggs and Ham by Dr. Seuss. And he, too, is planning ahead: Wildwood is the first in a series.
