Foundation Provides $3 Million for New St. Louis Police Headquarters
|In January the police department used $2.7 million from asset forfeitures to purchase the building at 1915 Olive.|
At a luncheon this afternoon, the foundation awarded the department with a check for $3 million to go toward the renovation of the new police headquarters at 1915 Olive Street. The department purchased the building earlier this year from Wells Fargo Advisers to replace its current headquarters on Clark Street that is 84-year-old headquarters and in need of costly renovations.
The $3 million from the St. Louis Police Foundation will go toward renovations of the new headquarters. Foundation President Doug Albrecht's family foundation contributed $750,000 toward the gift. The Ruth D. and Wylie Todd Charitable Foundation contributed $250,000 and an anonymous donor kicked in the remaining $2 million.
The foundation is now calling on individuals and businesses to help furnish the new headquarters. All donors to the Police Headquarters Furnishing Drive will be recognized on a donor wall in the new building.
