Willie Perkins: St. Louis Man Shot Point-Blank in Head During Armed Robbery
Police say the robbers then turned their attention to Perkins, who tried to flee on foot but was stopped. According to police, the robbers demanded that Perkins give them money. After he did so, one of the robbers allegedly shot Perkins once in the head. The suspects then fled the scene in an unidentified vehicle.
Perkins was pronounced dead on the scene. His friend in the car was taken to the hospital with a laceration to the abdomen after he arrived at the police department's Central Patrol Station at 919 Jefferson. Police say they recovered one of the suspects' guns inside the man's vehicle. No word on what happened to the third man who was talking to Perkins and the other victim when the robbers approached.
Perkins was the city's 99th homicide of the year.
