Report: AB-InBev Outraged Over World Series Bet Excluding Budweiser

• Shame you're not a St. Louis institution anymore. You're a Belgian institution. You axed thousands of jobs in St. Louis. You messed with the recipe of Budweiser by going after cheaper hops. Go buy MillerCoors S.A. too. No one cares about your mega empire - just gave me more reason to drink Jack Daniels.

• What will happen when AB/INBEV /Miller merge (within 2 yrs.). do to the beer indrustry in St. Louis? I'm all for Schafly giving them a run-for-there money.

• To bad AB-INBEV brass got hurt, maybe if they would treat the lower level people with more respect this would not have happened. I'm just saying!

• AB-INBEV got what they deserved. To bad the lower level employees get hurt in the long run.

• I go with the misinformed, not the name calling.  NO longer does AB support St. Louis as it did.  Then again, ask all the people laid off from AB, and those that had their benefits cut by corporate.  Look at the before and after of AB support for St. Louis.  Their claim's are not founded.  No longer are they a good citizen.

• The beer's great.  Phyllis is crazy and is related to the brewery's owners.  I'm not thinking of moral implications when I drink beer, ususally, but this one has crossed my mind, too. If Phyllis Schlafly were getting the same amount of coverage she did when the equal rights amendment for women failed I wouldn't drink Schlafly because of it.  I would worry that some of the press coverage she was getting was being promoted and paid for by the beer sales.  For those of you too young to remember, Phyllis Schlafly went nationwide with the opinion that the equal rights for women amendment would cause there to be unisex bathrooms all over the country as male and female seperate facilities would somehow violate it.  As it came up in state after state, men and women voted against it because they wanted their own bathrooms.  It was sort of horrific.  I didn't realize the depth of the stupidity of some of the public before then.  I felt like I was watching a natural disaster or something.  

• Don't forget Jorge Paulo Lemann, son of Swiss immigrants to the Banana Republic of Brazil.   He's the major stockholder of InBev and money man and also now owns Burger King.   That's the prick who put Brito in charge.  St. Louis Brewery is only operating at 50% and Newark will be closing soon followed by St. Louis not long after.  These two will see to it as their sales are waaaay off and people hate their guts. Making friends was the stated motto of A-B.....at InBev their motto is " screw you, I got mine " and making enemies is the thing they are best at.

• Now hold on... She's not an idiot, she's just misinformed! A little bit of information about the Craft Beer scene... Here in Texas the craft breweries account for only 5% of the beer sales, but they employ over 50% of the beer related workforce. I don't hear any of them bitching about not being included in the bet considering that they represent Texas a lot better than AB-In Bev. As much as I dislike AB-In Bev, take for example, the Goose Island Brewery... They bought it out, added 30 million in brewery upgrades, and kept the employees. Not EVERYTHING they do is evil. Goose Island is amazing beer, and I hope that they continue the tradition of crafting excellent beer. Let's just hope that they follow that tradition. I can imagine that the person who made the comment about them being pissed had a vested interest in the name and well being of the company. They DID start there in St. Louis. I can understand where they'd get a little pissy, but come on... Let's be honest; Schlafly isn't going to usurp AB-In Bev.  It makes more sense to offer something that you can only get locally in a bet. I wouldn't want a case of Budweiser if I can just walk 30 feet to the gas station and pick up some myself. That's just pointless- why even bet in the first place? With all that said... AB-In Bev needs to remove the sand from their sandy areas and stop whining. They're only gaining a harsher reputation by throwing a temper tantrum.

• "Best in the world" You're outta you freakin mind. Have you ever tasted beer outside of that garbage juice? Any beer that advertises like they do do t necessarily mean they have a better product, it's more than likely just the opposite. Chevy advertises more than Porsche, would you drive the Chevy? Get a clue.

• Don't we get enough Budweiser advertising? Too bad the Arlington mayor didn't offer up some Rahr & Sons Beer.

• All AB products suck. Craft beer will always be better. Natty light is like water with color.

• Oh, and if the Arlington mayor doesn't want his Schlafly, he can feel free to send it to me. I haven't had one in years.

• I say let them be outraged, maybe it will inspire them to make a good beer.

• I'd think that sending Budweiser would be a punishment if the other mayor loses!  Besides, I'm pretty sure that AB has a brewery/bottling facility in that area already - they have one here in Houston.  The mayor can get the AB swill anytime he wants, Schlafly really is a St. Louis delicacy that you can't get elsewhere.

• what the hell is inbev complaining about? its not like they made a hostile takeover of AB and then turned around and fired 1000's of AB execs and management, then turned around and cut off almost all the charitable donations that AB used to give to the local foodbanks, outreach programs and other charites. sorry in-bev, i know a WHOLE LOT of people who wont touch a budwieser or bud light ever again after the crap you guys pulled when you took over. • Hiya, Becky!   You mention "a few local emotional idiots".  If you want to see one more, look in the mirror.  Best damn beer in the world?   WTF?    The best beer ever to be made in St. Louis was made in the  late 1800's by the Louis Koch brewery and is now being brewed by Boston Beer Company as Samuel Adams Boston Lager.  None of the A-B brands hold a candle to Sam Adams, much less most of the micro breweries poppng up in the shadow of the Clydsdale piss factory.

LOUIS, MO" on their TV commercials during 1000's of national world-wide events"  Well... not exactly.  That is displayed on TV commercials... in St. Louis, you gullible bitch.  Go to Houston and watch TV, and the ad says "Anheuser-Busch, Houston, Texas".  Go to Frog Balls, Arkansas, and it probably says their town's name. • I overheard a conversation at Buffalo Wild Wings in Kansas City yesterday where a drunk patron was encouraging others to log on to the Riverfront Times and help to "Run A-B out of St. Louis". ANHEUSER-BUSCH, THE BEST DAMN BEER IN THE WORLD.  Still headquartered in St. Louis (just in case you didn't know); Born and raised in St. Louis, Major sponser to hundreds (maybe thousands) of organizations and events in St. Louis; Still proudly displays "ST. LOUIS, MO" on their TV commercials during 1000's of national and world-wide events; Major Employer of 1000's of true St. Louisans; Millions invested in building our new stadium; one of the oldest institutions in St. Louis; an integral part of St. Louis culture and heritage who has contributed more than any other corporation in the history of this city... is now being "DISSED" by a bunch of out-of-towners along with  a few local emotional idiots, crying over their hurt feelings due to their ignorance of  the nature and politics of business.  This is just unbelievable!  I don't know if Ms. Bowlin actually made the statement included here: "Nobody tells me what to include -- or what not to include," but if she did she's arrogant waaaay above her pay grade and should be removed from any position at city hall where DIPLOMACY is a requirement!  She certainly does not represent me or anyone else that I know. WE DESERVE BETTER THAN THAT! She should apologize!

• Being a giant international corporate a-hole makes Inbev look petty. Better for corporate pr to just ignore this but noooooooooooo. Somebody's got their knickers in a knot. It's a lose-lose situation if they make a big deal about this. But then, since AB isn't an American company anymore, nobody cares.  The future is in real, local brewed quality beer. Not Bud-swill. Inbev made a very unwise purchase.

• She would have been better off 'pitting' our opera house against those in Arlington and Dallas, if she could find it. It's a block to the west, and it is closed most of the time. But, it's better than theirs. Then the 'kids' in Webster Groves would be pissed off. You cant keep everybody happy. Trying, is how cities disappear.

• Hey AB-Inbev. Get over it. You aren't from here just like you aren't from Williamsburg, VA or anywhere else you have a brewery.

• From the Schlafly website (and what I thought was common knowledge): Does Phyllis Schlafly have anything to do with the brewery? Phyllis Schlafly is Tom Schlafly’s aunt by marriage. She is the widow of Fred Schlafly, Tom’s father’s brother. She is not involved in the business in any way.

• Any woman that would ever buy or promote "Schlafly" and the witch Phyllis and her extreme right wing notions for the subjucation of women and restricting their rights has to be either a religious nut or insane.

• I actually believe Berger's story; this same sense of self-entitlement caused A-B to rest on its laurels for decades while more innovative brewers began to take over the market.  A-B is no longer a St. Louis company, by the way, but somehow they think they are deserve to be treated like they are.  Remember when they were the only brewery in town?  I think they think they still are.

• The more I think about it, the more I believe it's just a Berger-fueled rumor. I can't imagine a multi-billion dollar corporation would threaten to pull up roots (what little it matters anymore) over a petty detail like this (free advertising) and create such bad publicity for themselves. Would *you* believe more than one person on AB-InBev's board would utter and agree to this? If Berger can give a more concrete source, I'd believe it but for now I'll just chalk it up to Berger doing what he does best. And I'd take a warm Schlafly over a cold Bud any day of the week.

• Now the Brazilians have an excuse when they shutter the STL brewery and move all executive operations to NYC.  A stupid bet between two mayors, not an outdated facility and the fact that STL is pretty much a cowtown in the corporate world.
