An autopsy has revealed that a homeless man discovered dead in September was likely murdered.
Police found Lawrence Carl Stojan around 11 p.m. September 24 in the 100 block of Elwood, just off South Broadway, near the Mississippi River. Investigators first thought the 54-year-old had died from a seizure. But the medical examiner's office last week informed police that Stojan died of trauma to the torso.
Police say that they have identified a suspect but have yet to locate him. More information if/when it becomes available. Strojan would be the city's 111 homicide of the year. Last year at this time the city had around 120 murders.
