Rams Odds of Leaving for L.A. Look Good Now That Jacksonville Has New Owner

Categories: Rams

Shahid Khan: The greatest mustache in sports returns to claim his prize.
Call it The Return of Khan. Shahid Khan, the Illinois business magnate who attempted to purchase the St. Louis Rams last year before Stan Kroenke foiled his plans, is reportedly the new owner of the Jacksonville Jaguars.

But here is where Khan's ascent to the NFL's ownership table could still have a big impact on the St. Louis Rams: Khan, who made millions as president of a Champaign-based auto parts manufacturer, will reportedly keep the Jaguars in Jacksonville. Khan made a similar pledge when pursuing the Rams, saying he would keep the team in St. Louis.

Stan Kroenke has made no similar promise.

Prior to today's announcement Jacksonville was seen as one of the franchises most likely to pack its bags for a new stadium being built in Los Angeles. Following today's news, St. Louis just moved up to the front of the pack, adding one more argument to our list of 5 reasons the Rams will leave for L.A.

The Jags have a very tight lease agreement with to stay in JAX until 2029. It will cost buku $$ to break that lease. This was put in place by Wayne Weaver. They were never seen as "one of the most likely to pack their bags" and move to LA. The Chargers and Vikings are far riper for the picking. Do your research Chad!

I remember when I was in the navy I would talk to people from St. Louis about the Rams and they would say they should have never came to Stl.  Two yrs later when the Rams won the super bowl they started claiming the Rams.  I'm a true Rams fan since 1983 even if they moved to St. Louis, come back home where you belong. Fuck the Raiders they aren't from LA they are from Oakland.  Rams LA's og team.  Stl can have the Cardinals back ,way they match the baseball team which is very good.

If your selling the team, what is the point of firing Jack Del Rio? Out of spite? Hatred? Why not let the new owner make those decisions?

oh i dont know, he was part of the group who drafted Blane Gabbert far earlier then he should have went. And then decided hey lest start a rookie qb who took less then 10 snaps under center (not out of shotgun) in his entire collegiate career.

Disclaimer: Gabbert is a talented athlete, but hes not what the Jags needed this year.

Unless this was posted early... there is no contractual obligation for Khan to stay in Jacksonville (outside of the lease terms at EverBank). Or as Wayne Weaver said, "nothin in writing". Not sure Khan has the bank to move anyways, and who would want to partner with AEG on that stadium.

yeah i dont see how jville can move when the new CBA almost assures the team to make money. the only way Khan could pack up the team and move tehm is if the franchise lost money 3 yrs in a row. and with the new cba if they dont sell one single ticket the tv money still is considered making money so unless khan sues to move jville moving is going to be hard but Garrison knew that already but wrote this dreak.

How do you figure they move ahead of San Diego and Minnesota?

Bullshit.  Kronke actually did promise he'd keep the team in STL.  His direct quote: "I'm going to attempt to do everything that I can to keep the Rams in St. Louis," Kroenke told Miklasz. "Just as I did everything that I could to bring the team to St. Louis in 1995. I believe my actions speak for themselves. "I'm born and raised in Missouri," Kroenke said. "I've been a Missourian for 60 years. People in our state know me. People know I can be trusted. People know I am an honorable guy."

The prick bastards would save me a ton of money every year if they move to LA.

Season tickets, PSLs/overpriced concessions, etc. I am sick of their shit.

The Raiders should move back too....what a pointless, damaging thing it was to move them both from LA in the first place.
