Anthony Matthews: Few Clues in Murder of Venice Official
Anthony Matthews, 56, was walking out of his home around 7:30 p.m. Saturday for his part-time job as a security guard at a Brooklyn strip club when he was shot to death by an unknown assailant. The suspect fled on foot and then got into a vehicle waiting for him about a block away.
Police say no one they've interviewed regarding Matthews has had a bad word to say about the deceased. Yesterday Matthews' grieving widow, JoAnn Matthews, told the Post-Dispatch the same.
"We weren't having any trouble with anybody," she said.
Anyone with information regarding Matthews' murder is urged to call the Illinois State Police office at 618-346-3990 or CrimeStoppers at 866-371-8477.
