Marvin Rice: Ex-Sheriff's Deputy Accused of Murderous Rampage

• What mom are you talking about? The one that has raised him since he was two weeks old? If that is the case, no she is not an addict, her job would not allow it. The child is better off with her.

• Mom is a meth head. You want the kid there? Better with strangers.

• I did not blame her, I simply said her decision set about the result. I wish if she wanted the baby to live with her she had gone about it legally. She did not. I am not blaming her for the end result and never would. Marvin made that choice. HE must live with it and now my kids and the others must to. I teach my students and kids everyday that ALL choices have consequences. She made the choice to keep the baby and call Marvin to tell him. Not a good choice if you ask me. I believe if she had done it legally proving she was no longer on drugs and doing all children's sevices wanted her to then she would have gotten him back. She is his mom after all. Does her choice excuse Marvin's? NOT AT ALL! He was wrong in so many ways and you are right his choice changed so many lives, not just the few hers would have changed. He could have/should have called the police and let them deal with her but he did not. I cannot tell you how many times I wish he had of called them instead of going over there but neither of us can change their decisions now. What WE can do is gather around Kelly, the kids on BOTH sides and other direct family members and give them support, love and an ear when they need to talk. I am truly sorry this happened as are the children on Marvin's side. We hate that there is so much pain. My own daughter, not with Marvin is hurting and wishes she could help. She wants to hug everyone she said. She is 11 and does not know what everyone is saying but she knows we are all sad. Her heart says we all need hugs so please do me a favor, From My youngest who is 11. Give Those babies on your side a hug from my baby. *no she was never Marvin's* Tell them we are thinking about them and we are sorry this happened to them.

• I feel for his kids.  Anytime there is a crime like this there are many many victims.  His family, Steve's family, Annette's family.  Still I stand behind everything I said above.  You say I hurt his kids with my above statement, funny, I thought he hurt his kids with his actions.  I have no ill wishes against his kids or current wife, they are victims as well.  I apologize if my statement caused them anymore grief, but it is not me that commited this horrible act.  Rice did.  Your statement above did anger me, for anytime I see someone blame a victim for the crime committed against them it angers me.  You same as blamed Annette for this double murder in your first statment, you blame me for hurting his kids with my post in your second, and yet all you say about Rice is he "made a bad choice".  He not only made a bad choice, he destroyed numerous lives, I think he deserves some of the blame you give so freely to everyone else.

• Where did you see me standing up for him? I never mentioned him except to say what they mother did to start this mess.  Was it right what he did? Nope it was not. However, both parties made really bad choices here. As for your comments, they are uncalled for since Marvin has children too that will read what you just wrote. IF you stop and think I didn't put Steve down. I never said a negative thing about him. I mentioned drugs for the mom as a fact. Did NOT say a negative thing about her either. I mentioned the baby and where I thought he should be. I do not appreciate you taking your anger on Marvin out on me when I was not negative at all! As for the Death Penalty comment and your concerns for children...stop..think..There are 6 kids on Marvin's side that will read or have read this mess! This is there dad too and THEY are hurting too! Do you really have a right to hurt them just because their dad made a bad choice, one they will pay for for the rest of their lives! Pull your head out of your butt and think!

• lets see, double homicide, felony kidnapping, evading police, shooting at the police....and you have the nerve to blame her?  Steve is my cousin and the man you seem to be standing up for murdered him in cold blood.  There is no excuse for that, and you are out of your mind if you think there is.  If he was so much the better person then why didn't he sue for custody.  Use that "record" you seem to know so much about against her to get his child back.  There is no reason that killing 2 people in front of the son he claims to love so much and leaving another 6 year old child alone in a house with 2 dead bodies is the right thing to do.  I sincerely hope the man gets the death penalty.  I'm only sorry there is no incinerator they could put him in to warm him up for where he is going.

• The current wife raised him while the biological mother was in prison for drugs. He should go back to the family he knows. If the biological mother had not taken the child and said his father would never see him again this would not have happened. And yes, I know the family personally.

• I really hope this child goes to live with the parents of the mother and doesn't stay with the current wife of this monster!!! Strip his parental rights now!!!!

• Come on cops!!  How do you shoot someone twice and have them end up in fair condition!?!?

• I would say first that in the last paragraph of your article, you state Rice entered Jefferson County and then later his name is changed to Dent.  Proofread before posting.
