• I agree with you Kurt...I know people who have met this girl, because they work or have worked where she is or has been held,  and she to this day has yet to show any bit of remorse for her crime. She acts as tho being in jail/prison is like being away at summer camp! • As much as I agree with your assessment of children being up for life imprisonment charges, I really wouldn't use Jon Venables as a good example of a child murderer grown up to a productive member of society.  He has been charged with distributing child pornography and has been sent back to prison.  Do a little homework on them before you actually put their names on a list such as this.

Now you're probaly wondering why a 25 year old lives among the senior citizens, its because I am disabled. so how is a family going to live in a senior citizens housing area? Each unit only has one bedroom, one bathroom, a small kitchen, a large living room.

The girl needs help. There IS a chance she can become a productive member of society. Look at Mary Bell, Robert Thompson, and Jon Venables. All three were child murderers, served their times, and live their lives in obscurity as productive members of society. She did an awful, horrible thing and will live with that for the rest of her life. Does letting her rot in prison make her act any less horrendous?

• People seem to have a hard time believing that females can be psychopaths. It goes against our perceptions of women as being kind, caring, and nurturing. Well, most women are kind, caring, and nurturing, to varying degrees. Except the ones that are psychopaths. Though psychopathy in women is less common than in men, it's not dramatically less common, and female psychopaths are no less insidious than male psychopaths. Of course I am merely speculating that Alyssa is a clinical psychopath based on the little evidence we've been given. She may be psychotic or something, but that seems much, much less likely. This also has nothing to do with satanic rituals, the emo subculture, or shitty screamo music. There have always been young psychopathic killers, from Mary Bell a half century ago, to Jesse Pomeroy over a century-and-a-half-ago, and on and on as far back as there have been humans.

• I'm not one for the death penalty. Think about it; sitting the rest of your life in prison is hell itself. Keep her in a padded room because seeing that she has had a past suicide attempt, it is obvious that eventually she will kill herself. So, to make it even worse, keep her from even attempting suicide. There's the other torture. She is obviously not right in the head and this is coming from someone who has bi-polar. :P

• everyone remember she was a teenager at the time of the crime. if she was an adult, I would have not been willing to give her a chance at being a part of society. I believe that life without chance of parole for teenagers is a cruel and unusal punishment. remember that teenager's brains are not yet matured which is why teenagers tend to  make reckless decisions without taking the time to stop and think. whereas adults brains have matured for their age. Trust me. I was a teenager all wild and crazy. Yes,I did get inschool suspension, but never went to jail because of a school program where they only reserve jail as a last resort if suspensions and IBM (Indvidual behavior modification) did not work. an Ibm is a 24 hours of inschool and inhouse suspension if you're a dorm student or 2 days of inschool suspension where you lose all priviledges like going to class, eating in the cafe taking a field trip, attend events on school grounds. things like that. after 24 hours you have to tell your peers what you did wrong to earn IBM then your peers vote on wiether to let you back in the community or continue ibm for 4 more hours. I know that almost no one hear of a IBM, but its similar to inschool suspension and inhouse suspension. trust me, I was in a program for students with behavior problems. this program kept me out of the streets and gave me the chance to develop life skills to be independent. If she had this type of school programming, its likely she would have had resources to help her control this type of curiousity. had she been idenified earlier in her childhood.

• Do you not know what a psychopath is? There is no rehabilitation for a psychopath. They're BORN that way. All attempts at rehabilitating murderous psychopaths have failed, and in some instances, caused their rates of re-offense to skyrocket. This girl will do it again. Because, you see, that's another thing about psychopaths. No matter how many times they kill, they can't quite remember that feeling unless they kill again...and again and again and again. People without psychopathy tend not to kill "just to see what it feels like." Lock her up and throw away the key!

• 1.  She didn't take any responsibility for her evil deed.  She plead guilty to avoid spending the rest of her life in prison without the chance of getting out. 2.  She didn't kill out of anger and temper, it was cold blooded calculated murder. If you want her living in your neighborhood or better yet even babysit your children then maybe you should lend her your guest room when she's out.  I certain won't want her anywhere near my family.

First off, reduction of the sentence is most likely what has her pleading guilty, as before she previously held onto pleading NOT guilty for quite a time. Regardless of the obvious guilt. Being so young and doing something so large tells you something not good about her. To strangle someone and stab them is the most cold, personal kill, at 15 I could barely stand to see an animal mistreated without wanting to throw up, let alone strangle, stab and bury a 9 year old. The digging of the holes shows the planning, the time she had to second guess and get herself help, but did not. However, I sense your heart is in a great place, and you are just simply unwilling to accept some people should be put away and forgotten. I see that you are holding a very beautiful baby in that photo, in light of your proposal, I have one of my own. Go find someone convicted of such a crime, or perhaps Alyssa herself if she gets out on time, and offer them a job, with a child you love.You're quite sure right? I'm willing to take that risk of ever seeing her in public again if you are willing to walk the walk.

• i think she can be successfully reintegrated into society with a lifetime of counseling, and support from the community, and good choices. she made the first step in potentally being released into society by taking responsibility for her actions by pleading guilty. the next step is self rehabitilation behind bars IE getting her GED, pursuing a degree behind bars, serving time behind bars, going to therapy, maintain good behavior, stay out of the hole. hold a job behind bars, and taking the time to pray and do some community service from behind bars, and learn to control her anger and temper.

• Statistically she'll serve about 27 years, which still makes her relatively young when she is released. Given the nature and brutality of the crime, I think life without parole would be a more fitting punishment. I'm not convinced this woman could ever be successfully reintegrated into society.

• Such a senseless thrill-kill crime and so much sorrow for absolutely no reason.  The Olten family have my deepest sympathies and it pains me to know that they may never find peace. The fact that Bustamante has the slightest possiblity of parole is a complete travesty of justice.  I don't believe in the death penalty for minors but she should never ever be allowed to walk free again.
