Martin Luther King Jr.'s Prophetic Last Speech

Categories: Community, History
Below: The ending to the speech Martin Luther King Jr. made in Memphis on April 3, 1968, the night before he was assassinated. King was in Tennessee to support striking sanitation workers and talked during the speech about the possibility of his early death.

"Like anyone, I'd like to live a long life. Longevity has its place. But I'm not concerned about that now. I just want to do God's will. And he's allowed me to go up the mountain, and I've looked over and I've seen the Promised Land. I might not get there with you. But I want you to know that we as a people will get to the Promised Land. So I'm happy tonight. I'm not worried about anything. I'm not fearing any man. My eyes have seen the glory of the coming of the Lord!"

Hard to believe he was just 39 when killed.

A St. Maarten car rental is a great idea for anyone wanting to see the best attractions and things to do on this popular Caribbean island. It makes sense for both the cruise visitor and people staying for a week or more.
