Maurice Leon Wiggins, 23, the Chicago man who threatened to bomb three dormitories at Southern Illinois University Carbondale and then rape and kill 30 women, was sentenced to 16 months in prison, three years supervised release and a $100 fine plus court costs. He could have been sentenced to ten years in prison and a $25,000 fine.

Wiggins admitted that he made the threats via his smart phone to the SIUC crime watch website, and also called campus police five times with other threats, including one to kill his ex-girlfriend. All of these threats were spurred by his recent break-up with that woman -- I think this can be the test case that proves death threats and mass-bombings are not the way to win back a woman's heart. Maybe the old standby of flowers and candy is more effective than you think.
