Newborn Dumped Next to Residence in Ellisville

An Ellisville woman was walking her dog at 7:45 a.m. today when she saw something wrapped in a towel under a pine tree next to her home in the 100 block of Westridge Parc Lane (above). She thought it might be puppies until it moved, revealing a newborn boy.

The umbilical cord was still attached and he cried when police picked him up. The fact that it wasn't colder this morning, and that the child was probably found fairly quickly, helped save the boy. The infant was taken to Mercy Hospital in Creve Coeur and is now in stable condition. Police have no idea of his identity and are eager for any facts about him or his parents.

Those responsible for dumping the child will face criminal charges.

Get used to this sort of thing if Roy Blount's (R-MO) proposed amendment S.1813 goes through...

*Blunt ... and I'm not sure that amendment number is correct, but the RFT won't allow links so I can't link to a story about his proposed amendment...
