Westboro Baptist Church Threatens to Protest Harrisburg, IL Tornado Victims' Funerals

The WBC people are all a bunch of morons who think they are gods gift, dosent the bible say love thy neighbour, when all they do is hate anyone who is not one of them so they are hypocrits

NICE. WHY THE HELL.? HAPPY THAT. PEAPLE WERE KILLED. WELL I HOPE WHEN YOUR TIME COMES PROTESTERS THAT YOU ALL BURN IN HELL. YOU ARE ALL VERY SICK.

I used to wonder why people would leave church and would say that "church was in their hearts."  I think with this church, Westboro, I have come to understand that statement.  I find it odd that they claim to follow the Lord, however, their actions don't seem to support it.  Yes, there is the Freedom of Speech thing, but what they personify is Satan.  Yes Satan can be any and ever where as shown by the inteolerance demonstrated by this group of Satan worshippers.Nobody I know who is a church going christian attends rallies at fallen soldiers funerals.  You know, the people who died so that your rights to picket them continues!

I don't know how they can call them selves christians when they act like they are doing satan' will.  They are doing the complete opposite of what Christ taught.  Perhaps you should review the "Holy Bible" folks and stip looking at anti christian writings.  You just might understand what it is to be CHRISTIAN!!!!!!!!!!!!  YOU ARE THE REASON WHY PEOPLE LEAVE CHURCH. 

One last thought on these people from this Westboro group. Concerning protesting them and giving them the notarity and time of day. DO NOT GO AND DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME' They only want to be noticed and the more you do this the more you help them to gain notarity and popularity. All you are doing is giving them what they want so they can feed off it and grow. Use the internet and hurt them the most that way. Plus even a lot of peaceful demonstration get violent and when that happens you are just feeding into them and making the situation worse. I know i'm volunteer fire fighter and was paremedic. Do not give them what they want and need instead use the internet get the word out about them use todays technology and let other people see their stupidity. I took the time to go and look at this group in Harrisburg blog and site. I only did this as I believe that if I am going to give my opinion on something or comment on it then I should try to know what the other parties beliefs and opinons are. I am going to state this in the shortset way I can and as professionally and christianly as I can. This group in Harriasburg, IL is a "BRAIN WASHING SOME SORT OF OLD RELIGION GROUP" I will not call them a church as they do not fit that category in my opinion. My advice to anyone who comes into contact with this group or any of their teaching is to "RUN" the opposite direction and get away from them. Although they use mainly Old Testament scriptures on thier blogs, website and I am guessing in their church, they do what a lot of religous organizations do today which is try to brain wash you into believing what "they" teach is GOD's way and it is not. First off prayers, thoughts, condolences and well wishes to the victims and all who were either directly or indirectly affected by the storms and tornado which touched down.I apologize for this being so lengthy but I am in short on time please read all of it. Unfortunately even tho there is the freedom of speach and press still today, sort of, the writer of this could have shown more common sense as well as self control by writing a cleaner comment and article on here, and that they had more brains and respect for people than the ones they are writing about in this article. Instead they show the same iddiot attitude. Next this group as I will call them because, and this is my own biblical opinion, they are not an actual religion or church. Anyways GOD "talking about the all mighty christian GOD in heaven" does not "KILL" anyone. Finally if you go back to what anyone who has been raised and taught or who have been exposed to GOD and christianity, if you go back and look at what has always been taught about GOD and what he controls, he allows us to have and he does not interfere with the thing ALL human posess which is "FREE WILL". Which for those of you who do not know is the decision to do whatever you choose to do. Finall and this is one most all people have a problem with "GOD" is only there to help us through the bad and terible things in life. GOD does not control the evil things in the world or life and he does not cotrol the evil actions of people he is there solely to help us get through it and to deal with those types of people and the bad things and events in life.We all must come to our own terms and understanding that bad things happen and there are people who act evil but our shelter and defense is to understand that GOD is not a geemie and that he exist as a way of salvation, restoration, and strenthing peace in times of trouble, sacrifice, and turmoil. I am not a so called religous person but that is what GOD is and does. I am speking from experience because that was what I had to learn to accept when I was searching and wrestling with why people do what they do and the bad things in life happen. I think that these protesters should instead of protesting at these funerals, they should take the money that they spend on this foolishness and give to the people in need during this time of need. I was told that a bunch of So. IL. people were there counter-protesting.  Apparently they created a vehicle and human shield preventing WBC from reaching the families and they also slashed the WBC's car tires :)

According to a friend who attended the funeral, they were there.  Sad, sick people.

i just want to say that I think this article is great. asa past minister of nearly 7 years I am troubled each and every time I hear thatthese people who claimed to be Christians are doing what they are.... itswrong, it’s not right, and it does not show the compassion that I did my bestto preach as I pursued such a lifestyle. This group is not what they appear to be (Most are ill informed) This is not a religious group at all. After much research I've discovered they are nothing more than a business.I got to wondering "how are these folks traveling the country? and who's funding them". They are self funded(on the public and governments dime) They are able to travel all across the country (supposedly protesting) with moneys they've accrued from lawsuits. Their M.O is to hit the deepest nerve, of all decent human beings. Their protest are targeted at children,military and celebrities,because they know these are hotspots for people. Their single objective is to enrage people enough to assault them.That is why they carry video cameras with them at all times during their protes.They want concrete evidence of any and all assaults on them. Another big money maker for them is they apply for a ' Permit to Protest' at a funeral that they know is going  to cause total pandemonium with the locals, in hopes the city will deny it. When a city does deny them the ' Permit to Protest' they in turn are thrilled ,because they then sue the city for denying them their Freedom of Speech. The membership of WBC is approximately 40 and they are all one family.The kicker is they are never out legal fees,because most of them are lawyers,so they represent each other. They are truly a lot of maniacal genius in the worse sense.WBC will be judged by the ultimate judge and it will not be in a courtroom. 

this is the kind of shit that makes  me glad i dont go for organized religion! Its one thing to have faith, but 'ye without sin cast the first stone'........

Just FYI, I live in the Cleveland area and saw the Westboro baptist church bus in mentor last night. They are no doubt in the area to protest the funerals of the poor children that died in chardon. I can't believe they have the audacity to this, legal or not. They should be given a nice old school ass whooping. Just sayin!!!!

I's surprized they havnt thought to invade the Ohio town of Chardon Ohio where a crazed student killed 3 students and wounded 2 others. This tragedy has gotten worldwide coverage. I guess in the mind of these sick people the students deserved to die. When terrorist group exists that preaches nothing but hatred in the name of religion, we condemn it to the fullest extent. Westboro may not be terrorist or killing people themselves, (that we know of) but the hatred they espouse, is just as damaging in the pain it inflicts on innocent people. THIS IS NOT A RELIGION. i understand all the emotion.  i live in cleveland and my family and community have been greatly affected by the devastating tragedy of child violence that occurred this week.  i challenge everyone to channel their energy and effort productively.  we must be cautious that we do not become the monster we so desperately wish to rid our world of.  as the saying goes, even bad publicity is publicity.  just like when dealing with children, we need to ignore the behavior, not the person.  we need to kill them with kindness.  show them with our words and our actions what it truly means to be christian.  meeting violence with violence is just more violence.  it doesn't change anything.  it doesn't teach our children how to constructively engage others.  we don't need anymore violence.  we have had enough.  it's time for faith, hope, and love.

Hmmm. This article is giving them what they want, I think. Of course they are "fucking stupid" and so on, but they should be either ignored or treated as a curious example of mass psychosis. They get so much publicity from just saying they will be at a high-profile funeral but the anger should be reserved for when they actually show up, in my opinion.

I have friends from Harrisburg that can't even sleep because some of their friends are still missing, this group is pathetic and is one of the many reasons I refuse to believe in a set religion. Harrisburg went through something terrible those people have done nothing wrong, that whole damn church needs to burn in Hell.
