Integrity Village Is Shut Down and Larry Rice Arrested

Thumbnail image for Integrity Village map.gif
As promised, St. Louis City issued a condemnation order for Rev. Larry Rice's Integrity Village late yesterday afternoon, and just after 6 p.m. the police arrived to clear the site. Given the option of packing up the tents and leaving the neighborhood voluntarily or being arrested, Rice chose arrest. He spent the night in jail with three other supporters. Homeless people at the site were transported to emergency shelters, and the tents were taken down.

The condemnation order was issued because the tent village had no occupancy permits, and the camp had health and safety issues. Rice faces a charge of occupying a condemned property, and according to KMOV.com, he was released from prison this morning. He now has a June court date on the charge.

Ineresting post from anti-County person. The first place he mentioned saved his hockey team. Civic Progress matched $60 million public with $60 million private and paid down Blues debt   enough to find a buyer. Would you have preferred losing the Rams and the Blues? Thank you Henry Kiel. The 2nd place he refers to is the greatest outdoor theatre in America and should open this weekend. But back to the topic-pictures of someone helping the homless being arrested is  how The City greets visitors coming in for graduations and weddings? This is the image you want them to I phone back home? That's somewhat suicidal.

The City wants to hide the homeless problem, Larry Rice wants to fix it.  They should help Larry. They say you can't fight city hall but you can no re-elect.  Heartless people need to spend some time homeless themselves.

Personally I'd vote for Red Rocks Amphitheatre as the greatest outdoor theater in America, but otherwise, points well made.

What town do you live in? Do they allow vagrants to camp out on vacant lots? How many live in a vacant house adjacent to your property?  How many do you allow to live in your yard or better yet your house? Want to answer these quesionts or are you just a loudmouth hypocritical bitch?

"...How many do you allow to live in your yard or better yet your house?" You seem pretty limited in what you have seen.  Plenty of people without regular work move into their families homes as a temporary solution.  You might not want to call a family member a vagrant, but if they lost their job, had to move in to your place, and don't have rent money from the time their foot first steps in the door, then the only way to keep them from being labeled as a vagrant is for you to say, "You are welcome to stay as long as you want."
