Bradley Kingery, Inmate, Found Dead in Jefferson County Jail

Missouri Department of Corrections
According to the Jefferson County Sheriff's Department, early this morning inmates called out that one of their cellmates was unconscious.

Officers checked on the man and found him unresponsive. They attempted to perform CPR, but by the time EMS personnel arrived it was too late.

An inmate matching Kingery's name and year of birth in the database of the Missouri Department of Corrections is listed as serving a two year sentence for felony possession of 35 grams or fewer of marijuana.

Kingery's cellmates got officers' attention around 3:30 a.m. this morning, but the 24 year old was dead by the time an ambulance arrived.

The Sheriff's Department says the death is under investigation, and an autopsy will determine the cause. We'll update when the results become public.

What is going on in Jefferson County Jail? Another young person found unresponsive. This is what I was told on August 3, 2011 when they found my daughter age 34 unresponsive. How long did it take this time to get the attention of the jail officers?

Two years for 35 grams? What kind of hanging judge would mete out such a sentence on such paltry charges? This sounds more like something that happens in Indonesia or various mideast shithole Arab nations, not the good old US of A. It is a tragedy Kingery died in custody for something so trivial.  I hope the judge is shamed. As soon as I finish this I am going to fire up the bong in honor of Kingery.

2 years for a harmless herb?  The United States is a shithole police state.
