Will KMOV's Morning Anchors Just Do It Already?

Andre Hepkins and Claire Kellet share a moment.
There's really no delicate way to put this: Andre Hepkins and Claire Kellet need to have themselves some sweaty, somersault sex.

And soon -- before KMOV viewers are subjected to one more disgusting promo commercial of the two "Awake with News 4" co-anchors flirting in front of the camera.

If you've watched the station anytime in the past few months, you know what we are talking about.

We assume the spots were created to show that the two hosts share an on-screen chemistry. But that's not the message you are left with. No, you get the sense that these two arrive at work each day wanting nothing more than to steal away together behind the green screen.

But -- the plot thickens -- to do so could cost them their jobs if they were caught. Yes, it's a classic tale of forbidden love, and we -- the viewers -- get to suffer through their pent-up desires.

Consider the commercial below in which Claire describes what Andre's laugh does to her.

"Cause the first time I heard it, I was like, 'Whaaat!? Did the Earth just shake?'" Claire says.  "It's like your laugh comes from your toes. I mean it's just [makes noise of animal roaring]. It wakes everyone up."

Now read that sentence again substituting "felt" for "heard" and "love juice" for "laugh."

Sadly, we couldn't find a YouTube clip of the latest promo video -- the one in which Andre confesses to Claire that he drove past her old high school in Webster Groves in order to get a better sense of who she was. Creeeeepy! But how does Claire respond? She totally digs it 'cause that's what all smitten women want: attention.

And lest you think that we are the only ones juvenile enough to draw these conclusions, our favorite West County watchdog -- former Town & Country alderman John Hoffmann -- also questioned the KMOV promos in a newsletter this week to his followers and former constituents.

"What's next?" asked Hoffmann. "Will the KMOV camera catch some conversation between Claire and Andre from a downtown hotel after some afternoon delight? I hope not. I have seen enough already!"

And as Hoffmann notes, if even "old people in West County" are thinking the same things as Daily RFT, then KMOV may want to reconsider running these spots -- and quick.

They can really make the mind wander.

Both Andre and the traffic lady with the fake hair creep me out.  This commercial does also but not to the same extent.  I like Claire but whoever is orchestrating these buddy buddy clips should be fired along with the two I mentioned in the first sentence. I imagine they are playing to an audience for ratings, but they are turning me off.

I stopped watching KMOV morning news because of these commercials.  I can't stand either one of them, but especially Claire!

They are terrible. Claire's gestures are numbing. She reads news like we're all idiots. I'm not sure about Andre. No doubt, he likes himself - a lot. But the way Claire acts around him reminds me of a soap opera. The promos are worse than what Fox 2 did with Pertzborn, Ellisor and Ezell... and I really didn't think that was possible. Local news has become a joke. By the way, what's with the blue folder Larry Connors carries around during newscasts? He looks like he's about to make closing arguments. It's just another prop for the stand-up news routines of local anchors. Sit down, people. Also, channel 5's Breaking News Center is another senseless prop. The anchors move 10 feet away from the news desk to give us, um, breaking news? It couldn't have been delivered from the news desk? Jeez - what a show these people put on. I'm embarrassed to think people from out of town see our news skits.

I enjoy watching them. I'm upset with the changes on all of the new channels. Trying to watch KMOV, but the red dress/ black boots lady is almost unbearable. Replace her...I'm watching KMOV.

What a joke. This is sad that someone gets paid to think up this stuff... They need to be fired, instead they will likely get promoted... Ohh boy... Whatever, who watches 'news' that early anyway? O'Reiley isn't on until 7:00 in the evening... Agree that those morning shows just long advertisements for lame products and some decent local businesses...

These promos are sooooo absolutely sophomoric, that if I was watching Channel 4 news before, I would be watching another channel now.

There is a 'flag' link if you mouse over the comment, but as Chad said, they don't really have the peoplepower...

We are talking about them, so therefore they worked. That being said i dont know to many guys who dont think she is fairly attractive. I'm assuming he is attractive to most females (cough bored housewife demographic cough). So their ya have it, all stl newscast report the same crap day in day out, this one is just trying to use sex appeal to sell theirs.

I guess I wasn't the only one who thought these promos were absurd. I don't know who is responsible for PR, but they may need to think about changing jobs.

Yes, the comment was deleted. We don't have the manpower to babysit the comments section all the time but will occasionally jump in there when it comes to our attention.
