Here's your weekly St. Louis bestseller list for the week ending July 8, as compiled by the St. Louis Independent Booksellers Alliance and based on sales at Left Bank Books, Main Street Books, Pudd'nhead Books and Subterranean Books.

Local author Ridley Pearson has two bestsellers this week. His latest thriller, The Risk Agent, out last month, made its debut on the adult list at number one. And Peter and the Starcatchers, co-written with Dave Barry, originally published in 2004 and now the basis of a Broadway musical, is number five on the kid's list.

Also back on the kids' list are local writers Heather Brewer, with Soulbound, the first book in her Legacy of Tril series, and Amy E. Sklansky, who wrote the picture book Out of This World: Poems and Facts About Space.

And while it has no local connection at all, we're happy to see Harold and the Purple Crayon on the kids' list, even though it was instrumental in our learning the difference between fact and fiction. (And by that, we mean that we were deeply, crushingly disappointed to learn that the only things we could make with our crayons were two-dimensional pictures. On paper.)
