Here's your weekly St. Louis bestseller list for the week ending June 24, as compiled by the St. Louis Independent Booksellers Alliance and based on sales at Left Bank Books, Main Street Books, Pudd'nhead Books, Subterranean Books and Sue's News.

How un-put-down-able is Gone Girl, the new thriller by Gillian Flynn that makes its debut on the St. Louis indie bestseller list this week at number five? It's so un-put-down-able that one reader of our acquaintance read it while lying supine on an X-ray table while holding it over her head for twenty minutes. (She didn't mention if the book turned up in the final X-ray.)

At the top of the kids' list this week is another newcomer, The Legacy of Tril: Soulbound, the first book in a new series by local author Heather Brewer. Unlike Brewer's two previous series, which chronicled the adventures of the teenage vampire Vladimir Tod and the slayer Jess, the Legacy of Tril is a gory, romantic fantasy set at an academy for magic.

Also new on the list is The Day in Its Color, a collection of mid-twentieth century photographs by Charles Cushman which proves that life before 1965 was not shot exclusively in black and white.
