James Hardy: St. Louis Homicide No. 82; Killed in Dutchtown South Ambush

James Hardy, a 19-year-old black man, was killed in an ambush shooting in the 3300 block of Keokuk Street Sunday night. Police were called to the scene for a reported shooting, and found Hardy and a 17-year-old black man down on the ground. Hardy was pronounced dead at the scene, while his companion was in stable condition with a gunshot wound in the right buttocks.

Witnesses told police a silver Pontiac Grand Prix or Grand Am with four black males inside pulled up in front of the house. One man exited the vehicle and opened fire on Hardy and the other man.

The suspects were described as being a light-complected man in a red shirt and camouflage shorts, a man with a dark complexion wearing a white T-shirt, and a man with a dark complexion wearing an Adidas jacket. There are no details on the fourth man in the car.

Police continue to investigate the murder.
